I have created a dvd but it as failed to finalise so it wont play in my player how do i finalise please

This is almost always a laser problem within the recorder. The recorder can write the disc but needs to write the TOC (table of contents) and can't do it (That's finalising). On occasion, the make of the DVD-r or DVD+r (they are different!) can fail to work on some machines. Try a different make of disc.

Panasonic NV-VP33 is a DVD/VCR combo unit. These are good, but limited in DVD media playback formats. It depends on the types of DVDs you are trying to play, and their region codes (if they apply).

This model will NOT play:

DVD-ROM / DVD audio / DVD+R (unfinalised) / DVD-RW / Blu-Ray (obviously).

This model WILL play:

DVD-R (finalised) / DVD-RAM (no finalising required) shop-bought DVD movies / CD-R (for JPEG/MP3/DivX) / DVD-R DL (finalised) / DVD+RW (titled or with a top menu to make them compatible with other players, but again, finalising not required).

You didn't specify which DVDs do not play in your unit.

I would be very concerned if your player didn't read ANY DVDs at all. I assume the image below is what the model looks like. I have never had any problems with mine.

Assuming you did create a menu/title for the DVD+RW, and it works in other players (without the need to finalise), your Samsung DVD unit probably does NOT support this format.

In short, it would be a limitation with this model unit; not a fault with either your discs or the device itself. If it accepts finalised DVD-R as well as shop-bought DVD movies, go with those.

According to the manual, this unit supports limited DVD formats for playback.

DVD+RW (depending on the writing software used) burned on a PC is generally not finalised which means you should be able to erase and re-write to the same disc and/or copy it to a DVD-R and then try the copy in the Samsung.

The (small) bonus here is that it didn't cost you anything to ask, and it won't cost you anything in terms of repairs - AND you do not need a new player at this point.

When the discs are recorded are they being "finalised" before you use them?

Finalising means that no more data can be added to the disc but also ensures that it should play on most DVD players. Unfinalised discs are often only playable on either the DVD recorder which created them or on computer DVD drives.

Your machine is supposed to be compatible with DVD-R but sometimes machines are picky about which brand of disc they work best with. You'll also generally find that DVD+R is more widely compatible than DVD-R but that really shouldn't be an issue on a modern machine like yours.

before the disc will play on other players, you need to "finalise" the disc. Finalisation ensures compatibility with other devices. Go into the "Setup" menu, and look for "Disk Manager", there will be a finalise option. select the option, and after approx. 3mins the disc will play on other players.

Maybe the format of your recorded movie didnt support your player..check out your manual for the supported formats and check the format of your recorded movie.If any of the format in the manual matches your movie format then it will definitely play..

This is problem exactly with finalizing for finalizing after disk burning You need to press stop button and finalising menu will appear in your display at that time you need to press Record button top finalize it will take a little time for finalizing then your DVD will play fine in all DVD players

When you burn your DVD the disc has to go thru a FINALIISATION process before it can be used on other DVD players. Sounds like either your recorder hasn't run the finalisation or it doesnt do one, in which case your DVD's wont work on another player. Check thru your menu's for a FINALISATION option and make sure you run it.
