Notebook won't connect wifi

Hi, assuming your laptop is switched on.
Above the keyboard on the right side are the three 'Easy buttons'. The one on the left is for the wireless function.

Push this button to activate or deactivate the Wireless LAN. When you activate the wireless LAN function, it will search for a wireless LAN signal automatically (assuming you have the wireless LAN driver installed). Just below the screen on the right side is the Status LED Panel, which show six icons, each with its own LED. The first one on the left indicates Wireless LAN status. When the LED is displaying a green light, it indicates that the system is accessing data from, or retrieving data by wireless LAN. So whenever you press the Easy button, you should see the green status light come on or go off. To repeat, if the light is not on, you need to press the Wireless LAN 'Easy Button'. NOTE! If you can't get the button to come on, you will need to re-install the Wireless LAN driver.

Wireless lan not working on my acer aspire 4520

The wireless feature (Wireless LAN) on an Acer notebook allows you to connect to available networks. This convenience allows you to use the Internet with network cables, modems or network installation. Acer laptops come with a wireless switch to turn the wireless feature on or off. Once you enable the wireless feature, your Acer notebook can connect to wireless networks within range.

Instructions:
1.Locate the Wireless LAN switch located on the front of your Acer Notebook. Move the switch to the right to turn on Wireless connections.

2.Right-click the network icon located on the system tray next to the clock. You should see a list of available wireless networks.

3.Select the network you want to connect to and click "Connect."

Was working ok then internet down and red light on router constant - have done the turn off turn on routine and reset router to no avail. have also plugged indirectly to computer - green light then comes...

Try rebooting both the modem and the router. It could be that the modem didn't pick up it's ip number when the internet went down. Then try pluggint you computer directly into the modem first to make sure it is setup and working properly. Then plug in the router (to the modem) and the PC plugged in directly to the router and check.

Once you have it connecting at that point then check the wireless settings on both the router and the pc. Then enable the wireless on the pc, unplug the LAN and switch to wireless network on the pc and see if it won't work.

If it works plugged in on the LAN but then not on the wireless then either your configuration isn't correct (ie wrong gateway ip number...gateway should be the same ip number as the router...ie 192.168.***.***) or perhaps the wireless part of the router died. It is possible for the wireless to die and the LAN (hard wired connection) to still work.

My wireless network adapter is gone? My wireless modem can not connect to my ACER because I do not have a wireless network adapter.

I may not understand you on this because the 5420-5687 notebook should have come with a wireless connection.

Does your "Modem" have both wireless and a hard wired LAN " For instance my "Modem" came only with a hard wire LAN" and no wireless transmitter. I needed to buy a "Wireless Router" to tramsit between the "Modem" and then wireless on my ACER 5420-5687.

If the "Modem" had both the hard wired Lan and a Wireless transmitter it should be able to go directly without the "Wireless Router". If that is true you should see the amber flashing light, on the last in the group of 4 below your touchpad. If it is not flashing as I said above, it is either not sending/receiving or likely not turned on. The on/off switch is alternately turned on/off by sliding the switch below the light to the right.

Hope it helps. I tend to get a little too wordy.
