Oil pressure warning light Audi A6 1800T SE 1999

Jim, you are going to have to look at the oil pressure sensor. It may be bad or it may just have a loose wire or bad wire. This sensor picks up the oil pressure and activates your light.

The oil pressure sender unit is located on the oil filter housing.These do tend to leak at times. The warning light for this switch is a red oil can and a buzzer. Replace the switch. If warning light still comes on, have the oil pressure checked. The oil level sender warning light is an orange oil can with oil level under it. This sender is fitted on the bottom of the oil sump and can leak past the seal. If warning light comes on, check oil level. If ok, check for damage to wiring under vehicle. Senders do some times become faulty.

It indicates you have a problem with your brakes. Get it checked out soon!

look like it's your brake warning light, have some one check your brake pads, brake fluid and parking brakes

Check the oil sending unit for leaks.

Check the valve cover gasket for leaks that trigged down to the oil sending unit.

Oil sending send intermittent ZERO or low PSI data to the computer ECU.

It will triggle OBDII error code.

When you get a solid light the pull the code on reply.

Get it checked with a mechanical gauge. Replace sensor.

Turn off the ignition press and hold the button on the leftside of the display while turning the ignition on it should say service oil on the display pull out the button on the rightside of the display until the service oil clears

Sounds like a sensor. you may have hit a good bump or something knocking the sensor for oil level or pressure loose, it may also just be dirty so you first have to locate it and i'll admit on a Audi I ahve no idea where it would be, But it seems like just a sensor

when you see oil pressure warning light it is shows means no pressure from the oil pump.
so you got oil also you heard noise coming from the engine when there is no oil coming for lubrication simply all moving part makes noise like cam-shaft and cylinder head.

so check the oil pump pressure.

You're low on oil - the Audi dipstick isn't the most accurate thing out there. Add a quart and see what happens.
