I can't find any reference to a PV-GX31 model, BUT if your camcorder is a PV-GS31 MiniDV model, then you need special software for it to show up on your computer screen. Panasonic supply the software to show and edit still shots (through your USB cable). But if you want to show and edit movies, then you need a firewire cable, a firewire connection on your computer to connect it to, and most importantly some editing software. PCs are pretty slack in this area, so you should use a mac!
You can find a charger at Wal-Mart for about $45 that includes a car charger. I just got mine there after searching Best Buy and Circuit City to no avail! Just make sure to check the back of the case for compatibility with the battery and/or camcorder.
I called Panasonic directly today & asked about the Vista driver
for the GS31. No such driver exists, but they are trying to develop a
driver specifically for Vista users of this camcorder. Finally the
mystery is correctly answered & solved for us Vista owners!
