Hi. This is normal. Unless you made a backup, you will have lost a lot of system programming. Firstly you must make sure you have initialised it with the code for scanning and not check tracking. To do this:
Turn key to program mode
5
SUBTOTAL
SUBTOTAL
This will print the memory allocation. Next to file 16, you should see a figure in the thousands (usually 6000).
Next you need to allocate the I/O port for the scanner.
Try this:
Turn key to program mode
3
SUBTOTAL
298
SUBTOTAL
2000
CASH
SUBTOTAL
Now perform a flag clear to set the new I/O:
Turn key to PROGRAM mode.
Turn power off at wall.
Hold RECEIPT FEED down - keep your finger on it.
Turn power on at wall.
Wait 5 seconds, then let go of RECEIPT FEED.
You should see "FFFFFFFFFF" on display.
Press SUBTOTAL.
Turn back to REG mode and try it. You might have to log a clerk back on after the flag clear. See how you get on.

Okay, that's good. It means the two are now trying to communicate. Unfortunately, your scanner does not have the default settings in it though. Do you know how the scanner has been set up (baud rate, parity etc)? If you have your scanner book, it may have settings pages for the RS232. If you aren't sure, let me know the brand and model of the scanner.
The MS6720 maybe similar to the PSC, so we can try the other protocol. You need to do the same I/O steps, but this time try using 12000 instead of 2000 as shown below:
Turn key to program mode
3 SUBTOTAL 298 SUBTOTAL 12000 CASH SUBTOTAL
Now perform a flag clear to set the new I/O:
Turn key to PROGRAM mode. Turn power off at wall. Hold RECEIPT FEED down - keep your finger on it. Turn power on at wall. Wait 5 seconds, then let go of RECEIPT FEED. You should see "FFFFFFFFFF" on display. Press SUBTOTAL.
Ok. That's great. Now the scanner is working fine. Now you just need to enter all of your scanning products. This part is quite complicated, so you will need to follow the flowcharts in the dealer manual regarding scanning PLUs. If you need a manual, c-tech has one here:
http://the-checkout-tech.com/estore/cata...
Once you have checked out the flow charts for scanning PLU programming, let me know and I'll show you how they work.
You will normally have departments set up on the keyboard already after it has been initialised, but if you have removed them, just allocate around 8 to 10 dept keys and press the department you need during programming of the scanning PLUs. I wouldn't bother trying to use software as it is faster to enter scanning PLUs directly into the register (no need for mouse clicking)
If the above instructions don't work, I'd try resetting the scanner back to defaults. There should be a barcode to scan in the book that will do this. It will then usually work with either of the two Casio codes.
So did you try resetting the scanner to factory setting?
I've never had this problem. Every scanner I've tried has worked after setting up with either of the Casio codes, so I would start to look for a break in the cable
I just connected a VS800 to a TE4000F and it is working perfectly, so I know it can work just fine. Used the 2000 code for the VS800. Keep trying and you'll get it :-)
Using SD backups can be tricky. Read the section on it in your manual and familiarise yourself with the cursor keys part where you go up and down to select filenames on the card. When you've read that, I'll point you in the right direction for backup. There are MANY codes, so it depends which you need.
The code for a full backup to CF should be 900 so try it. The machine should save a file called 90 on the card (or have .90 in the file name). File 90 is a big file that contains all other files when restored on another register.
The scanner had the grey Y cable with power supply plugged into it and 9 pin connector. If you are getting PLU not found then you are very close. Locking up means you still need to adjust the scanner settings in the scanner itself. I think you need 2400 baud, so change each of the other settings (stop bits, parity , handshaking etc until it works). The book doesn't tell you the other settings, only baud rate, so if you get it, I'd love to know for next time :)

Hi, thanks for the instructions. I've done all the steps. Now the scanner beep every time u pass the barcode. It does not freeze, another word it use to have the red light on & when pass the barcode it beeps once & the green light comes on & stays on. Now it beeps every time u pass the barcode & the green light go's on / off after passing the barcode. However, I still did not get the message barcode not found so I can enter the number so I can use it. thanks for ur help
it is metrologic MS6720 RS232. Please, if u can show me an example full steps to program an barcode item. thanks
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah it works. now it say's not found plu. input unit price & press Dept.key. please, u're very kind what the rest of set up, & how to verify it. I did one item for .25 cents & I pressed the taxable dept like it asked me. However, I got the massage not found plu etc. but not what I expected the .27 cents after taxation. thanks alot for yr help
yes I did downloaded the dealer manual. but I had programed several keys on the keyboar for exam Lottery key & Alchohol key but I discover that I programed them as flat plu keys. Since I am using the register at work it is hard for me to change every thing to dept.keys I am going to link these existing flat plu keys to dept. & you tel me if that will work. because, I notice when you try to programe the barcode or plus one of the needed things is the dept. thank u for the help
by the way will you tell me if there a resonable software works with this register to help me keying the over 500 plu's.
hi flixion1. I need your help. I need to copy the merchandise barcodes from my 1st casio TE-4500F to the 2nd one I will be using SD flash mem card can you tell me what files to copy. If I can backup the 1st register complete & restore it to the 2nd register. I will be very gratefull.
will you help me to copy 1st register to the 2nd register. Since the 1st one contains all items barcodes & I need it copied to the 2nd one I will using SF flash mem disck. Thanks
hi, thanks for helping me in the past. However, I need your help to configure my scanner with the Casio TE-4500F my scanner is PSC VS 800 I tried to progam the scanner using the manuf progam book I was unable to make it communicate with the register. Thanks alot
I tried all these tricks as well as change the scanner setting like u said by scanning barcode non work, the scanner functions as it suppose but no hand shake with the host. I scanned option RS232 psc
baude rate=9600, parity=odd, stop bits=1, data bits=8
CTS flow control=enable, Software control(Xon/Xoff)=disable, ACK/NAK=enable, transmit lablelID as prefix.
I program the register as 12000, 2000 as well as choose setting for quick scan 6000 with baude rate 9600 as the dealer book specify on page 210.
I did reset scanner to factory defult I also changed the scanner to another identical one no luck. I tried all baude rates as the dealer book stated on the table.
Thanks will u show how to backup one register & restore it to another using sd flash card. I understand that I have to renumber the 2nd register since it a copy
please, since u had used vs800 & worked can u tell me what kind of cable & the cable # it's stamped on the cable. Is it y cable one side 9 pins serial & the other side 5v power supply my cable this way. Now, as far as clone the register I read that section very well in fact I'd copied the scaned plu's from one to another & tested ok the thing I do not know what other files should be copied & or if I can back up all files at once like old time DOS backup? the restore'em
hay, I changed the scanner like I said I have two & I programed the register with 2000 code. I changed the baude rate to 2400 on the scanner I reboot everything then I scanned a barcode it gave not found plu then it froze I repeated the reboot it did the same then froze agin any idea? may be change some setting on the scanner.
