Sony DSC-W30 ACCESS problem

Comment by ula1, posted on Jan 28, 2008My Sony DSC-W30 camera worked fine for a year and then when I turned it on the black screen displayed ACCESS, tiny yellow light keeps blinking, zoom lenskept zooming in and out but couldn't get out of access, then screen said turn the power off and on again. The battery is full. When I try to turn it off the lens keeps zooming back and forth a few times before it finally shuts off. Hit it like the others said and no change.  What next?

Turn camera on, screen goes black with the word access. Yellow light flashes, and zoom moves in and out a few times, then it says turn the power off and on again.

Try hitting it against something harder (like a table). I just did and it worked for me.

I have the exact same problem, so here is some solutions for it.
Extract the battery, once battery is out, push the power button for at least 20 seconds, this action will release the reset software for the power consumption, introduce again the battery and follow start up procedure. Additionaly let the battery drain out and recharge again, by doing this the problem should dissapear until you can get another battery, because this is the cause of the conflict.

Sony DSC W30 digital camera, lens unit problem

Hi!
If you're sure you didn't damage the lens flat cable which connect to the motherboard, the focus of the lens unit you bought on ebay doesn't work. You can simply replace the back part (with focus) of the new lens unit with your old one. It requires soldering.
