To be very honest I feel there is not home remedy here you can try:
1. Taking out the battery
2. Put battery back in
If that does not work its time to decide on whitch camera shop you want to. I know you did not come here to be told that but why shall we play around here and cause more damage to this nice piece?

The batteries go dead as soon as I switch to camera settings after a few snap shots. Why?
My Fuji S3000 eats batteries alive... I have bought several sets of new rechargeable batteries presumed to be of good quality, and they last only a few minutes. Are there INTERNAL BATTERIES in this camera that may have gone bad? What are the recommended batteries for this camera?
Doesn't matter what quality batteries are used,
I have also cleaned the battery terminals and it still dies within a few minutes. Someone told me a while back that they can have a internal short that drains batteries fast but no fix for it.
I am still looking for a solution.
I also have the same problem. I've tried a few different brands of rechargeable batteries and standard AAs also. After putting fresh batteries in the camera it shows low battery after only a few minutes of use. If I put fresh batteries in the camera and never turn the camera on, when I do go to turn it on the batteries are already dead. It seems the camera drains the batteries both when it is in use and when it's off. It also never retains the date/time setting.
is there no solution for this? This is the exact same problem that is happening with my camera.
