Raise hood (of course), behind the headlights you'll see a black rectangular shaped lid with a (I don't know what to call this) piece of metal strapping it down. This metal piece is about is comparable to a metal clothing hanger from the dry cleaner. Pop that metal piece up and then you can remove the back of the headlight casing. I hope I'm not out of line to assume once you look into the casing you'll find it's pretty self explanatory.

Where do you add tranmission luid on a 1999 vw cabrio

I'm almost positive that 1999 is the first year that VW changed to a procedure that involves special tools that require you to go back to the dealer to have this done. A quick call would confirm it. Hope this helps.

How do I replace the front right turn signal on a 1999 VW Passat?

VW passat for model year 2001.5 – 2003, except HIDs). These were done on a 2001.5 Volkswagen Passat 1.8T. seem to be too wide for the wiring connector. Avoid touching the glass of the halogen bulb with bare hands. For easy access to the headlight’s bulbs, the cover shown above needs to be pulled out. As a reference, the arrows show what holds each other together. This will be helpful when placing this cover back. WARNING: Avoid touching the glass of the halogen bulb with bare hands. Use alcohol to clean off any contaminants. Read this book for VW service and repair manual complement. http://www.ebooksquad.com/2007/10/10/replacing-headlight-bulbs-for-the-vw-passat.html

How to change a burned head light on a 2000 vw cabrio?

Changing headlights on VW Cabrio I just changed the headlights on my roommate's 2002 Cabrio, but I followed the instructions given for a 2001. What you have to do is: 1. Move the metal wire holding the black cover to the side and remove the black cover. 2. Remove the power cord from the bulb itself and push to the side. 3. You will see a pin holding the headlight in. Squeeze the pin (you want to squeeze closer to the top of the pin, which is the closed end; don't squeeze the open ends because all you will do is get irritated and hurt your fingers), then push it back and down. What this will do is move the pin away and then out from those little metal tabs that its going through. One side will pop out, then the other. When you get it out, the pin should be standing up, with the closed end pointing up. You can then remove the bulb and replace. Popping the pin back in is a heck of a lot easier than getting it out! I was able to remove the cover, but I got totally stumped on the pin. I hope this helps you out, it may be a little confusing but its kind of difficult to describe. Maybe this will at least point you in the right direction!
