Hi Smorrall,

That's definitely not a normal charge time. There could be a couple of reasons for this:

1. If your laptop is brand new, it might do that the first couple of times.

2. There could be a problem with your AC Adapter not carrying the charge properly.

3. The battery could have some sort of problem.

I suppose I answered your question by saying it's not normal, but I can't say much for you other than to try going to best buy or calling up Acer to see what they tell you. Hopefully they'll replace it, although they're not exactly known for great customer service.

Good Luck :)

Most of the time it charges to 80% in a hour and 100% in two hours if the laptop is still under warranty then I would return other wise you will have to buy new battery for laptop. go to following link if you have to buy http://www.battdepot.com/?gclid=CJCMt-Onrp4CFQifnAodu3TAmw

How many hours to charge a new acer 4738?, mine is too long to charge, is it natural if new?

A brand new battery has to be charged for 8 hours. For any battery related issue, a reset or calibration can be done.Just drain all the charge in the battery by using the laptop only on battery power( ie,with the Charger/Adaptor disconnected). After the comp shuts down due to no power, then charge the battery for 8-10 hours and then check if its fully getting charged or not
At times a BIOS update can fix battery related issues.

NO.....laptops are built his way for a security reason and there is no bypass gimmick, no hacker tricks. The cmos battery has to be pulled, the two pins in the battery socket on the motherboard have to be "shorted", the laptop powered on and then off and the battery replaced. That is the only safe way to do this procedure. I have included a service guide below for the job.

Ferrari 360 dead battery

Correct, the battery is in the passenger footwell under the aluminum plate. It is perfectly fine to charge the battery here, but it is not recommended to jump start. Also, it is possible to get in the trunk without having power. There is an emergency release pull tab under the drivers side dash. Quite easy to use, actually I normally use this in lieu of the normal electric release.
