Re: battery light

I agree, a motorola radio it is not... However, have the alternator checked at a shop or auto parts store. This could be the cause.

Here are a few thoughts concerning charging a HNN9018 or HNN9044 battery in a SP50 radio:

1) Check the date code on your battery. Rechargeable batteries have a life expectancy of 2-3 years. Motorola brand batteries have a 3-digit number date code. The first number is the year of manufacture, and the next two numbers are the week of the year. Example: 352 would be 2013 (or 2003) the 52nd week.

2) Try another radio/battery in the charger and see if you have the same results.

3) Try charging the battery outside the radio. It will set front to back in the charger. The battery has an arrow on the bottom of it showing you which way to put it in the charger. If the battery charges in the charger without being in the radio, then your radio has a problem with the charging circuitry.

4) Clean your battery contacts with a pencil eraser, both inside the radio and outside, as well as on the battery itself. This radio's outside contacts are easily covered by film from hand oil and it will prevent the battery from getting a good charge.

5) Test your radio with another known good battery. If your radio is not working with the original battery and it appears to have not charged, it could be a radio problem, not a battery problem.

6) Try your radio in a different charger and see if you get the same result.

By this point in troubleshooting you should be able to determine if it is the battery, radio or charger.

Best regards.

Run your batteries on a battery reconditioner analyzer, this can give you a diagnosis and recondition the battery.
Also, with Impres batteries you can use an Impres battery reader to find out more info about the battery including capacity, age and number of charge cycles.

If the battery is under 1 year old it is still under warranty. Contact your dealer.

Best regards.

I work for a hotel and we have about 6 2 way

Here are some things to check:
1) Clean your battery contacts with a pencil eraser. (Both on the radio and charger)
2) Check the date code of the "new" batteries and see if they are less than 2 years old. (3-digit number usually with the first number being the year, the next two the week of the year. ex: 927 would be 2009 the 27th week)
3) The radios must be turned off when on the charger.
4) If using drop-in chargers try charging the battery alone in the charger.
5) Are all the chargers lights blinking? This can be a sign of a bad charger, shorted battery or wrong battery. You mentioned recently replacing them, are they the same chemistry as the previous batteries?

You did not mention the type of radio, so we cannot be more specific in our troubleshooting, but this should get you started. The beeping you are experiencing is most-likely the low battery beep. Your batteries are not getting charged. The above questions should help you narrow down the problem. If you need more assistance post another question and we'll try to help further.

I have a motorola mts2000 and it just started having sound come from both the earpiece and the mic. I have tried several different commports and mics and it still has not fixed the problem.

Try this,

Remove the battery, let the radio sit for about 5 minutes. Replace the battery WITH the mic attatched to the radio and turn the radio on.
Hope this helps, Bill,

One will not keep batteries

The unit is drawing too much power.

Take the unit apart and look for any resistors that are bubbled clean any contact points in the unit with contact cleaner or the highest pcnt rubbing alchohol you can find let the unit dry completely (hair Dryer etc() then try if it still fails. One of the components in the unit failed and I would recommend replacing it.

GP 360 Radio Charger

On a Motorola charger, when the battery is charging the light should be a constant red (or amber depending on the charger). When the charge cycle is complete the light will change to solid green. Sometimes the solid green time is brief, as the battery will begin to lose charge, and the charger will go back into trickle mode and change once again to red (or amber). In most cases, a flashing light indicates a problem, such as a bad or shorted battery, an incorrectly seated battery, dirty battery contacts, or a bad connection with the battery. (Note: Batteries last 18-24 months typically. Check your date code for the age of the battery.)

There were several chargers made for the GP360, including but not limited to a 60-minute charger, a 90-minute charger, a 10-hour trickle charger and a 6-unit gang charger which would be a rapid rate, either 60- or 90- minute. If you would supply your charger's model number we could tell you which one you have.

To make un full reset

Hello Rahooty,

There is no way to set the date and time becayse the system clock in your Garmin Rhino 120 should be updating based on the information it receives from the GPS satellites. The radio should auto locate itself within about five minutes of being turned on providing it has a clear view of the sky. Once it sucessfully auto locates the radio's clock and position should reset. There does not appear to be any other reset built into the device.

Try taking the batteries out for at least 5 minutes. Then, reinstall the batteries, turn the unit on, and give the unit 5-10 minutes to auto locate. If it doesn't, you may need to contact Garmin support for additional sevice.

Best Regards,
"Go Ahead. Use Us."
