Have the Glow bar ignition, thermocouple and gas regulator valve checked. It is not un-common for some gas smell as the Glowbar heats the thermocouple bulb.
This in turn when reaching the correct temperature activates the gas regulator. If the Glow bar is not providing ignition quick enough. More gas can be released before combustion is initiated. This extra can be the smell you are experiencing now.

Best to have the unit serviced by a qualified technician to be safe.

Good luck Luck be safe!

A tenant of ours is saying that their Maytag 27" single oven of: Every time we turn on the oven, there's a very strong gas smell for at least the first few minutes. The oven is heating ok.

you should probably go over or send someone ASAP to pull it out and check the lines are connected properly and haven't become damaged.

Could you imagine the lawsuit and property damage if their was a gas leak. This is the very reason gas has an odor added, it is the only warning sign of a potential leak and explosion.

I would take this very serious and give immediate attention.

Recently when turning on my stove, I have smelled gas, however upon inspection it is not the gas line, I spilled some Juice while baking a turkey at thanksaches temp. gas odor s eliminated.I want to self...

Hi Bunny.
Now, about your oven.
If you spilled some juice into the oven on Thanksgiving. It will be dried up by now. However the lower burner in your oven should have a shield over it so that juice doesn't get onto the burner.
If the oven is now working properly in bake mode, then the same burner will work in self-cleaning as well. Whenever you turn on a gas appliance you will smell an an oder for just a moment.
Here is the reason. Gas is odorless naturally. The gas company intentionally puts what is called an "ODORANT" into the gas so that anyone can smell a leak. Sometimes, they put too much oderant in and they get quite a few phone calls about leaks. Of course, when there is a real leak, they can also find out about it and take care of before there is any danger.
Your caution in not listening to your son's advice is wise. "Just do it" applies to Nike shoes, and sports. When it comes to safety with regard to natural gas, electricity, or any fuel (like gasoline) "Just do it" can be just fatal. Remind your son of that.

Hello tds. It is not uncommon to smell gas when you open an oven door. That said, if the amount of gas you smell is stronger than it used to be call your gas company. They will send out a technician, free of charge, to check your stove. Joe

My oven works fine it just doesn't heat-up. I can hear ignition clicking but no fire from burners. A technican told me to purge the union above gas to get rid of air in the line. Thanks Louis

Personally I wouldn't describe an oven that doesn't heat up as working fine. You shouldn't have any air in your gas line unless this is the first time firing the oven, in either case the air in the gas line would work its way out eventually and the oven would light on its own.

Check to see if your ignitor is glowing before you hear the clicking, if the ignitor isn't glowing it needs to be replaced and is fairly easy to do so. If your ignitor is glowing you should check to make sure you are getting gas to the burner. The only way I would recommend checking this is with your nose, do you smell gas when the gas valve clicks? If you do then something is wrong with the burner, either dirty or the exhaust is too strong, or even gas pressure too low. If you don't smell any gas that doesn't necessarily mean no gas is coming out, at this point you should call a authorized service provider to take it over from here.

Our oven doesn't heat and smells like gas

This sounds like a weak igniter, it would have to be a gas oven and the symptoms usually are: takes longer than normal to ignite the burner, may or may not smell gas in the oven, does not maintain set temperature or burner does not come on fully, eventually won't heat at all. On gas ovens, a glo igniter is like a light bulb, the more you cook, the faster it wears out. Bottom line, needs to be replaced. Good luck.

When I turned on my frigidaire oven today I smelled a strong odor of gas, I never smelled that before. The oven is about 6 years old.

Have it checked immediately for a leaking gas line in your oven. The situation is very dangerous, gas accu-
mulation can explode and cause fire. Get is touch
for a technician immediately.

Oven - Very bad gas smell

Very Dangerous! turn off supply to appliance, supply ventalation and call service tech. If you are very familiar with gas appliances and know what you are doing then you can try to locate the leak using soapy water or leak detector liquid. make sure all flames and other possible sources of ignition have been eliminated. Keep room well ventilated. Spray leack detector on all fittings and look for leaks replace or tighten parts as needed. This responce is asuming you have not blown up already, seriously dangerous situation you have there.

Gas Odor coming from oven

The reason you can't smell it when the oven is on is because the gas is being ignited. DO NOT USE YOUR STOVE until you get this fixed by a gas fitter. You have a gas leak, which is either a loose fitting or faulty valve or line.

Call your appliance dealer IMMEDIATELY or you could have an explosion!!!!
