Gas leak from oven

Hi, when I turn on my oven, I smell gas coming from the oven. Although the oven does start to heat up, the gas smell continues.

Thanks,
Cassandra

have a GE gas oven which leaks after the wall source is turned on. It's faint and the stove top burners/ oven work ok. It scares us and we're afraid to leave the gas on or use it. Help

Yesterday I changed the glow plug in my 1989 Magic Chef gas range/ oven. The oven now works perfectly. After I installed it I did however notice a gas odor with all burners off and oven off. When I turn off the main gas line behind the oven there is no more odor. How can I find the leak? Could it be a gasket? How do I access the gasket?

Smell gas coming from unit. At first the smell came from the one main burner in front, but now gas smell is everywhere from unit. Wondering if it could be the regulator kit or if I should replace something else besides that... Thank you for any information.

Sounds like the ignitor is weak and needs to be replaced. How old is the oven and what is the model # from the sticker on oven?

Gas stove When I turn on the oven, I smell gas,

This is more than likely the igniter to be sure you will need to do an amp draw on the igniter. To do this watch the video on troubleshooting a gas oven at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html

Our oven doesn't heat and smells like gas

This sounds like a weak igniter, it would have to be a gas oven and the symptoms usually are: takes longer than normal to ignite the burner, may or may not smell gas in the oven, does not maintain set temperature or burner does not come on fully, eventually won't heat at all. On gas ovens, a glo igniter is like a light bulb, the more you cook, the faster it wears out. Bottom line, needs to be replaced. Good luck.

Oven is slow ot light and has a gas smell when

Hi, this sounds like a weak igniter, it would have to be a gas oven and the symptoms usually are: takes longer than normal to ignite the burner, may or may not smell gas in the oven, if it does light the burner, there may be delayed ignition (pop), does not maintain set temperature or burner does not come on fully, eventually won't heat at all. On gas ovens, a glo igniter is like a light bulb, the more you cook, the faster it wears out. Bottom line, needs to be replaced. Good luck.

Oven doesn't heat up

Hi, Even though your igniter is glowing it's bad..A igniter should glow brillient yellow for it to be able to light the gas...basically whats happening in your case is although the igniter is drawing the correct amps to open the gas valve it is not getting hot enough quick enough to light it..change the igniter and you should be good to go. Good Luck!!! Mike

Maytag gas oven doesn't heat, but oven's pilot light is on.

Get the oven checked out by a professional, if you have a gas leak you can easily blow up the entire house and you with it. I think you have a faulty gas valve based on what you wrote

Gas smell at start up

Be sure that the igniter has a good ground. I mean make sure you clean it well. Be sure its fastened well. And of course that it is close enough to burner. Air flow in building can also hinder lighting.
