Norcent Technologies LM173SB 17 in. Flat Panel LCD Monitor Won't work with Windows 7

I ran into this very problem myself, the issue is that the monitor only supports 1280x1024 resolution MAX. Windows 7 cannot detect this monitor and so it does not know it is limited to this resolution, so Windows 7 is putting out a higher resolution at startup, thus the monitor tries to autodect for a second but then just goes blank because it doesn't understand (and can't display) the signal. The only solution is to use another monitor and adjust the resolution to 1280x1024 or lower, but I run into a problem where as soon as you remove the other monitor and restart, WIndows tries to "plug & play" the monitor all over again at startup. So you're best bet really is a newer monitor unfortunately, I only use my old Norcent monitor with my XP computer.

Just bought a reconditioned monitor,a new adapter, and the green light comes on but the screen shows nothing? I checked out the video plus and they are in good. Help?

I would try it with another PC to make sure it is not PC problem. I would not open it up until you ask the person you bought it from to see what they can do for you.
You may have backlight inverter problem or lamp assemblies.

How can I get the Backlights for a Norcent Technologies LCD Monitor Lm730

Lamps: http://www.lcdparts.net

What is the problem with monitor?
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Monitor picture goes off after start-up

Hello,

It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors willblow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitorsoverheating in the confined space of he monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix he problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm Youcan take the back cover off your monitor and look for the badparts, replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor shouldwork fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and-connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new onethe same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repairservice for $35 plus shipping. If your problem is not the capacitorsthen it would be the backlights and that is much more difficult toreplace.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Norcent LM730 Lcd Monitor Problem

Mine was doing the same had to keep turning it on and off to get it to work then it would not turn on at all green light flashed on and off on front of monitor. I unplugged monitor and green light on ac adapter kept pulsating on and off like a capacitor. I just replaced the ac adapter and am back in business with the monitor running good for tonight.
I guess these ac adapters go bad eventually.
Thanks From Tom
