I run an new Alienware system with vista 64. It initially ran FSX very well. Recently, after a few minutes flight, the control surfaces return to a neutral position with corresponding lost of control. I have tried several controllers with refreshed drivers, reinstalled FSX, installed a NEW FSX with no change in behavior. Any suggestions? Naturally, I will supply any tech data on my machine you need. dave abbiati

Hi Dabbiati.

If you have an Alienware running Vista 64 I do not know any further specification.

All Alienware are game machines with great specs, and the problem is never caused by insufficient resources.

The problem is likely caused by a bug affecting the controller standard Vista driver.

If you already have tested different controller, and reinstalled game and drivers, then the only explanation is a system bug.
In this case I suggest doing a Respawn (system setup) using the Alienware utility.
When you will do respawn you will be given the option of keeping all your current data.

Save all datas onto an external hard disk before doing the respawn.

My FSX has been running flawlessly for 2 year now it freezes a few minutes into flight Sp1 and SP2 have been installed and I reinstalled FSX and have the same results HELP!!!! Please I also down loaded...

My best suggestion here is making sure that your graphics are up to date. Whether you have on board graphics or a graphics card, check the drivers and update if necessary. If that doesn't fix the problem, are you using the gold edition, or just flight simulator x? The gold edition contains the Acceleration expansion, and does not recommend installing SP1 or SP2 as it is already updated through the Acceleration Expansion!

Paint skin not showing up on Flight Deck 5 planes

Check that you are running FSX and add-ons in administrator mode. This sounds like a user rights issue.

Saitek X52 Flight Control Problem

Remove the X52 and drivers from your system. You have to install them in a certain order, so look in the documentation for the correct way to install and you will be okay. Good luck

When I bank right or left with joystick the screen Freezes

To check the joystick isn't the problem, go into control panel game controls, then check that the joystick appears and you can move the cross-hair around on screen, most modern joysticks are
auto-calibrating, but you could try running the calibration.

To check the game isn't a problem, unplug the joystick, then use the arrow keys to fly the plane, if it doesn't crash when you bank then it isn't the game.

I assume the game is Combat Flight Simulator 3, as very old games that were written for Windows 95,98,ME series often won't run on Windows NT,2000,XP,Vista as they are completely different versions of Windows. If this is actually Flight Simulator 3, you may need to consider buying a later version of Flight Simulator (FSX is the latest version, but may not run on your laptop).

Other things to try are updating the graphics card driver.

Norton shouldn't need deactivating, although it could cause problems if you're playing online.

Also remember that laptop graphics cards are never as powerful as desktop graphics, and games very rarely specifically support laptop graphics.

Hope this helps.

MS FSX -view keeps switching from cockpit to spot view

The most likely problem here is that you have multiple assignments for the view change command set to multiple controllers hooked up to the system. They are conflicting with each other causing random view changes.

Firstly, go into Windows Control Panel and to Game Controllers. Remove any controllers listed in that box that are not currently connected or being used in your flight simulator.

Next, go into FSX, into the control assignments section...
Go through each controller in the drop down box (in the button/keys tab) and ensure only one controller has the assignment for view changes assigned.
