my laptop is sony PCG-7173L. No thing display on screen and i even cant shutdown and there is no power led on power button and no sound of fan too....i cant go to advance boot option also..Please can any body help me...
First get a known good power brick and try it.(Did you measure the voltage under load? Better not to even bother as it shouldn't be 23.5 anyway so discard the power brick before it blows something else up) The excessive voltage may have fried the on board regulator or blown a fuse; you will need to dismantle to check this, just trace the wires from the power socket to the MB

Maybe unit was already trashed when gifted! Could be corrupted cmos, bad hard drive, bad memory, corrupted OS, bad peripheral. Check with your "friend."
Are there any LEDs on it at all? If not then it is ver likely that your Power board finally failed. In which case, with this model, you must replace the motherboard.
will i guest your computer have a major trouble...just try to check if the power led is ok the light is blink...or just check also if have 3 beeps sounds with regards to the video card...my suspect is weather a power supply of your computer or a video card is defective...let us bring that to the service center......
