Sounds like you have a dryer drum belt that's getting bad. Once the belt gets warm enough, it becomes more soft and pliable, lessening the noise. Needs to be replaced. Hope this helped!

Bravos mct Dryer Loud Screeching sound upon startup ModelMEDB850WQ0

A loud screeching sound from your dryer could be caused by a few different issues. Here are a few things you can check:
  1. Belt: A worn or broken belt can cause a loud screeching sound. To check this, unplug the dryer and remove the front panel. Look for any signs of wear or damage to the belt. If it looks worn or broken, you'll need to replace it.
  2. Drum Rollers: Dryer drum rollers can also cause a loud screeching noise. You can check this by turning the drum by hand. If it feels rough or wobbles, the rollers may be worn and need to be replaced.
  3. Idler Pulley: A faulty idler pulley can cause a screeching noise. You can check this by removing the belt and spinning the pulley by hand. If it feels rough or wobbles, it may need to be replaced.
  4. Motor: A motor that is failing can also cause a loud screeching noise. You can check this by turning the drum by hand and listening for any unusual sounds coming from the motor.
If you're not comfortable checking these components yourself, it's best to call a professional to diagnose and repair the issue.

Extremely screeching noise when running?

Screeching is the metal-on-metal contact of the drum touching the rear of the unit while
turning - there's a (usually) felt cover gasket over the circular depression at the back of the dryer.
When this wears through (after a number of years/loads), you get the screeching of
metal-to-metal contact.
Problem: friction can heat up the metal so much that the remaining felt gasket material (and/or
accumulated lint or clothing) catches fire.
Fix: replace felt drum gasket.
The Maytag Atlantis MDE6400AY electric dryer has a DuraCushion(tm) dryer drum, so I'm
suspecting the "DuraCushion" has worn out at least at one point in its 360-degree arc.

the screeching noise is most likely caused by a slipping belt or pully. transmission probably needs fluid and filter changed.

Dryer makes screeching noise runs for awhile then shuts off.

The 1,5 year new dryer makes a terrible screaching noise when it has a load of clothes in it. It still dries fine, no problem with the heating element. No noise without clothes, only when it has a load.
