Can you vent the Rinnai 551F vertically through ceiling?

I have a Rinnai Energy Saver 551F Model # RHFE-551FA-P It was intalled right next to an outside wall and was vented directly through the wall to outside. Can this same heater be installed in a new location and vented vertically through the ceiling? There is an existing flue in this location right to the roof. It is a one storey bungalow.

This unit can be vented through the roof but requires a specialized flue system-do not use an existing flue connection. Call a contractor - have them check and see if the unit can be modified to a vertical flue- it will require the existing piping to be replaced--Not a job for a do-it yourselfer

How do you work it

rwandih - Are you sure you listed the correct model number. As the RHFE series heaters a Direct Vent models, not "Ductless". Please advise, so the I can forward you the correct Owner's Manual.

Rennai 551 FA-P Never fully shuts off

Hebert,

Is there a chance there is a draft around the room temp probe? It is down low on the right side of the heater. If there is a draft the room sensor is fooled and keeps running the unit. You should be able to prove the room sensor by putting your hand over it after the stove has been running for a while. This should shut the stove down. If not there is a problem with the room sensor.
