Drum is banging on wash cycle.

We recently moved our washing machine across country. We hooked it up last night...ran it without any clothes and it seemed fine. Ran it today with a full regular load and the drum started banging against the sides on the wash cycle. The drum has a lot of movement from side to side when emptied and checking it. The machine itself is level.

Hi

I am not too familiar with KitchenAid products as we dont have them in Australia. However most front load washing machines have the same basic set up.

Open the top hatch and also the back panel. Check the suspension springs on top of the drum and also the shock absorbers underneath the drum.

Make sure they are ok and non has come off or broken during the move.

Also make sure that the counter balance bricks or blocks are not brocken or loose.

Good luck.
Ash

My kenmore 417 wahser making too much noise, it looks like the inner tub hitting the outer plastic housing. How can I fix it?

Have you tried moving the clothes around in the drum to balance the drum BEFORE you was them? If that works, you have solved the problem! Most people forget that when cloth gets wet it gets heavy so leaving the clothes unevenly placed in the drum dry will make a real problem when they get wet!

Washing machine stops working halfway through a cycle. The drum rotates a little bit,but not at a high rate. The pump works. But it just stops. It never finishes a cycle.

hi nick, 1st open door of unit and see if u can move the steel drum where the clothes go gently up and down. these drums should have no movement because they r fixed at the back with bearings. when most front loaders have bearing faults the machine makes a banging noise on the spin cycle. please reply and i can help u more.

Admiral clothes washing machine AAV7000AW

Hello calmtouch,

You said,
When in spinning cycle, the barrel begins to move all over banging the washer across the floor. I don't even know what to look for.
Help.

sounds like the coupling connecting the tub to the transmission may be loose and throwing the wash tub out of rotation causing the banging and walking washer.
Bless You

Kenmore 44092/spin cycle

It turns out that there was a sock stuck within the pump in the washing machine. I removed the back cover and removed all the excess water, because once the sock was removed, the water was free to escape. I just removed the hose that connects to the pump and felt the sock, and was able to remove it. Once I hooked everything back up, the washing machine ran great.

Mildew/Stagnant water smell in washer

you know, this does happen.

run it on a full cycle, warm, with either of these in solution.

baking soda, at 1/10 concentration

non chlorine bleach, at 1/6 concentration

you most likely need to do this more than once, until your nose is happy.

Also, consider doing this at least once every 200 wash cycles.

essential oils have same effect, and do a nice anti microbial as well.

we did this in commercial laundries all the time, as part of standard health code compliance issues.
