You should bring it in to a store where they can help you. BestBuy is probably the best because they have GEEK-SQUAD. call them up if you want them to come to you. not sure on the cost, though...

I need to go to a much larger & faster hard drive

Sony recommends to use the preinstalled Hard Drive as the Recovery Discs works with the specific Hard Drive. However, you can add additional Hard Drive to the Computer.
Please check the link below for more information.
http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C127565

Your computer is shipped with 80GB Ultra ATA/100 Hard Drive. you can use Hard Drive of size 80 to 500 GB for best functionality.

Problem with Sony Vaio pcv-rx860 (screen goes black at startup)

I would suggest first to try to take one stick of memory out and try to boot up the pc. Sometimes, one or both of the memory sticks can go bad or the memory slot on the motherboard itself can go bad. If that is not the case I would then remove all of the usb connected to the computer and last i would test the power supply.

Sony pcv-rx860 dvd drive will not open to remove cd-

Hi, if you look at the front of your cd drive you will see a little hole. This is an eject mechanism. If you insert a paperclip in this whole you should be able to manually push the drive open. Once it is open it may release what ever is causing the drive to jam.

I hope this helps.
