Have not used my shoprider cordoba for a couple of months as we have been away in England - but would not start - think it is the controller that has died but the scooter has not had much use at all (we live in Malta and purchased it and had it shipped from the UK). I have made all the checks that in the user manual - battery connections OK - batteries charged 12.7 volts each - all the lights work, horn, winkers, all working - freewheel lever in correct position - there is a click coming from the controller box when the lever is pushed in forward or reverse - so I presume the relay is OK - have checked with a volt meter the black & red coming out of controller to motor there are no voltage - could you please tell me anything else that I can check or what the problem may be? (Malta is a small island in the med and they import parts)

I had the same problem last year and guess what. It's happened again. My Cordoba has been laid up for winter in a dry but cold garrage and charged monthly. The batteries are perfect. Last year I sent it to the local mobility providers who had it in their workshop for 2 hours exactly and rang me to say it was ready. I thought great that should be a cheap reapair! Wrong £170 and the mechanic said he had dried out the control box and sealed the cover with silicone.. Said he had had a lot of trouble chasing fault. Two hours worth! Shoprider refused to help and told me to go back to this highway robber again. I am elderly disabled and cannot do the work myself. Gutted. The same symptoms are there again. Full Batteries, In Drive, Turn on - move levers -intermittent beeping. - No Movement - Everything else works. Is there a simple fault? Would love to know.

Scooters should be charged weekly, leaving for 2 months without a charge will cause the batteries to be so low that they cannot recharge. These type of batteries willnot recharge never mind how long you keep them on charge.
I would suggest it needs some more batteries, yes expensive.
Try and buy things from malta there must be a local scooter shop that can supply you.Plus being malta a dealer maybe able to confirm what i`ve said and if you buy from him ,he will be able to help you with niggly problems

Have a shoprider cordoba, judders and then pulled away very sharply.Changed brake and stripped and regreased drive. Went ok but now just beeps when throttle is pressed. Any ideas

Have you tried checking the motor brushes, remember if you get stuck and decide to go to a repair place. You will be lucky if they take the job on, but if you are happy to repair yourself. I suggest to take a picture of each step you take. My own scooter had same problem and the only thing i needed to do was the brushes. Hope this helped.

How to stop a continuing beep on my Cordoba scooter when I turn the key on? The scooter don't move at all.

Hi Mag,
I have this steps that might help you with beeping sound on your Scooter. Hope it helps.

UNIT LIGHTS UP/HORN WORKS BUT UNIT WILL NOT MOVE
Possible Cause:
  • This often occurs when the scooter is in free wheel mode and is not in drive mode. Re-Engage the free wheel lever which is located down near the rear wheels (normally a yellow or red lever).
  • If you hear a beeping noise, the beeping you hear is a fault beep indicating the scooter main control box has detected a problem. Contact your dealer who can diagnose the beep code.
  • Check batteries with load tester - If either battery drops more than 1 volt under a load, the battery(s) are bad. Replace "both" batteries.

I also find these additional steps on how to know beep alarm indicators:

This main control box has a self-diagnostics feature & cannot be tested with a volt meter. When a
problem is present the main control box will diagnose the fault, prohibit the scooter from being driven
and sound an alert beep. Each alert beep indicates a different issue which helps to determining the
problem by narrowing the fault into one of a few main areas of the scooter. Reference this information
below for the alert beep indications.

Very Rapid beep- Batteries are low. Charge & test batteries.
Medium Fast beep- Motor/brake wiring fault. Free wheel lever disengaged.
Solid beep- The charger is plugged into the scooter (some models may vary).
Very Slow beep- The throttle pot was not at center when you turned the unit on. Throttle pot off
center or wiring (yellow & orange wires) fault.

Shoprider laid up for a couple of months Now only goes click

Hi Nigel. Sounds like the brake assembly ( Free-wheel ) is not releasing. Can you manually release the free-wheel and push to scooter? If you cant push it the the brake solenoid might be the fault. I have had a few over the years that have done this. The resistance through the coil should be approx 50 ohm's.
Otherwise the motor might be burnt out. Motors that are burnt out give a very distinctive burnt varnish smell. Good luck. Neil.
