Check for blown fuses in fuse boxes under dash on left & under hood.check for a blown 'fusible link' a wire leading from battery + terminal to the electrical box near the battery.a fusible link is a wire designed to 'melt' in case of a short.outside of link will appear blistered, and a new one needs to be soldered in it's place.

Installed after market radio and now have no dash lights cig lighter and brezel clock also blowing fuse to external amp

You most have of messed with wire you wasn't suppose to touch while installing the radio. Or one of the wires for the radio may be making contact with a metal piece .. take the radio out again and look for any twisted or peeled wire.
if you took any 12v from the cig lighter that may be a problem too.

I plugged a cell phone charger into my cigarette lighter in my 1991 chevy silverado and now my cigarette lighter, stereo, cargo light, and dome light will not work can you help me figure this out?

You blew the CIG,RADIO or ACC fuse in the fuse panel, remove and replace with same rated fuse. There is a grounding issue inside the lighter housing from this

Radio does not turn on. the clock shows, the light

The memory wire of the radio,(the power for the clock and channel settings) is usually connected to the same circuit as the cigarette lighter. (there is a seperate fuse for radio) Check your cigarette lighter socket for damage or dirt, etc. could be causing the memory fuse to blow. Also check your cig lighter accesories (like cell phone chargers, etc.)

P.S. The backlight is also a seperate circuit (connected to interior light/parking light circuit)

1991 s10 pickup radio and cig. lighter shrts out

You need to replace the lighter socket. Both of my 1988 S10's had the same problem after a few years of using my cell phone battery charger in the lighter plug. I replaced it 10 years ago and it has been fine ever since. Something in the original socket wears out and causes it to short out when something is plugged in. Good luck!

The clock and the radio went out in my 2003 Dodge Caravan. Also the lighter I use for a charger is out. Do I simply need a new fuse? I think the charger may have broke off a piece into the lighter that may...

it is possible that the remaining piece of your charger has shorted it out and blown the fuse. If you look through your owners manual it will tell you the location of the fuse panel and which fuse is for the cig lighter and radio........sorry im not familiar with these locations on your vehicle or i would tell you exactly where it is
hope this helps!
