Close the filter drain cock, remove the filter, fill the filter with fuel and put it back on. Now crank the engine to start at a faster speed and let it blubber till it smooths out and your good. If you\'ve been cranking on it already, hope not, then you have allowed air into your fuel system and you must bleed all the air out at the injector lines until there is fuel coming out of each line you\'ve got cracked open at each injector. It will take some time and a lot of cranking. But if you do it like I said to start with, it will start easily. I\'m an old timer and love diesel engines. Old school way is the only way.
Try bleeding the fuel line to the injectors by cracking them loose on the injector turn engine over until it cranks fuel should come out of the lines where you cracked them loose at when it starts snug them back up dont completely loosen the lines just a little bout three quarters of a turn if you get no fuel you probably have a injector pump problem
Depending on the severity of the overheat, I would suspect the engine may be hydrolocked. I would remove the spark plugs and then try to crank engine. If will then crank over, coolant coolant may emerge from spark plug holes. In which case internal engine damage is likely. ie head gasket, or cracked head/block.
Fuel pump because it's not making enough pressure. That's why it's coming out of line but not getting to injectors. Check and see if someone may of put in line filter if so it could be clogged up.
Well sounds like you have the three things an engine needs to work, compression, igintion, fuel! So If you really have those three then it would be a timing issue. Or you are not getting fuel to the cyliners. Like the injectors are plugged maybe
What are your compression numbers?
Also does it try and start at all or just cranks and cranks?
Try and spray a little carb cleaner in the trottle body and see if it trys to run for a few seconds, it if does then that means the injectors are not getting fuel to the engine!

I would replace the injector itself. You can get a free full online repair manual with everything you could need if you register for free at autozone.com
You need to "bleed" the fuel lines. Loosen injector 1, crank the engine until fuel comes out. Tighten the injector. then repeat for the rest. Do 2 injectors and see if you get any improvement. I may bleed itself if you crank it over enough but can kill the battery. if doing 2 doesn't help do them all.
just bump the ignition without starting it let sit for 20 seconds oruntill you hear lift pump shut off then shut off ignition and repeat do it 2 or 3 times should start then cummins is a self priming system has been for years even in semi trucks
