I plug it in and it just goes to 12:00. Time never sets and from what I understand can't be set manually. What is wrong?/
Slide the switch with a lock, wake 1, wake 2 and clock to the clock position. Using the backwards and forwards buttons get time to the correct time. When correct time is reached, slide the switch to the lock position. Time will now be set.
Manual can be found in PDF form from RCA here: http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/Downloads.ashx?prodid=56&mediaid=620&force=true&file=products/RP5430/media/RP5430_UMEN.pdf
If it flashes 12:00, try replacing the batteries (they're required to utilize the "auto-set" feature). If that doesn't work, set the unit manually (see Guest's solution if you don't know how).
On an unrelated note, does anyone else think that the lowest volume is not that low? My unit's volume jumps from not-so-quiet to off.
Go to wake control and push the slider all the way to the right. The use the fwd rev buttons to set time.
Setting Clock
1. Slide the switch /WAKE1/WAKE2/
on the top of the unit to clock position.
2. Press REV or FWD to set the clock
time. The time decrements or increments
will follow by a faster rate when you press
and hold the buttons. The ":" between
hour and minute time flashes when you
are setting the time. AM or PM icon will
also beside the time.
3. Slide the switch /WAKE1/WAKE2/
on the top of the unit to position
when finished.
Setting Wake Time
This unit allows two wake times to be set.

decrements or increments will follow
by a faster rate when you press and

Usually answered in minutes!
I have a 5430A and can't get the right time...It just went black. Can this be changed manually?
RP5435A failed to set time forward one hour Mar. 9, 2008 and can find no
way to manually change time. Removed power ,including batteries, and
then returned power. Clock now flashes 12:00 continuously.
