The refrigerator makes a loud rattling sound from the back. How do I know if the compressor is bad or jut makes a rattle sound?

The compressor rubber mounting may already be worn out. If your ref still serves you just like before, then the compressor is still okay.

Unit does not get cool. I can hear the compressor kick on, but it goes off about 15 seconds later. After a minute or so it goes on again only to shut off again

:

Hi!
That is probably the compressor relay
The relay is on the compressor and needs replaced
A relay starts the compressor with a higher voltage and then quickly kicks out
Thats what is happening with yours
Its best for a tech to replace The relay but you can do it
Take your model number to your Local Appliance parts store they will have a diagram
showing you how to install the relay. Its called a hard start relay

The alarm in our Franklin Chef model FWC100 wine cooler keeps going off even though everything stays cool so we want to know how to turn off the alarm or cut the wire to the alarm. Thanks.

Love this machine. Works great. Have had it for 6 years. Now it has a problem. The lights and fan work, and the temperature settings work. It behaves like either the freon is low (I don't hear the compressor starting), or whatever causes the compressor to start is crippled... Fuse looks good, nothing visibly burned on the motherboard, haven't opened the bottom.

I have a Haier model BC112G that stopped working. I unplugged it overnight and it still won't work. It just makes a clicking sound once in a while. Any Ideas? Wayne

Sounds like you compressor won't come on, check you warranty status before you call anyone. This repair can cost more than the unit did. The clicking noise is the overload on the compressor witch will happen if the relay fails (rare on this unit) or the compressor locked up. Either way, check warranty status on you unit before you call anyone, maybe cheaper to replace unit.... I hope this helped..

My cooler compressor start stops imidetly..why

There is a start / run / thermal overload relay on the 3 compressor input terminals that has 3 functions

1. enage the start winding

2. switch to run winding

3. Protect the winding in the event of a bad start or locked compressor rotor.

If it is actually starting but not running at full speed / normal RPM the run capacitor can also be bad.

Unless the compressor is locked up... the cost to repair the unit is worth the expense. The only thing that would be bad news is if the repair person told you the compressor rotor is locked and the compressor needs replaced.

From the symptoms you described you have a compressor run component failure and the the compressor rotor is not locked.

Want to purchase relay. Can't find part locally.

The best thing to do is go to your local appliance parts warehouse and match up the relay with what they have in stock.

Be sure to briung all relevant info you might have on the unit.

That way you can ask for the RF-5600-01 to compare it before purchasing. Thats exatly what a service tech would do if you called one, only they will charge you 50 to 100 bucks to do it.

Does not cool. Compressor Hot

Sounds like the compressor starting relay. This should be available from from most appliance parts retailers that carry refrigeration parts. It is probably a plug-in relay which is easy to replace. PULL THE PLUG UNTIL YOU GET IT! Constant cycling on the thermal protector will damage the unit.

Replacement Parts

Would suggest you try a distributor for this cabinet as sometimes they have more leeway with the supplier. Looking through sites would suggest someone like BeverageFactoy.com may have a route to the spares youre after. Hope this helps.
