My Everstar portable AC unit will not blow cool air. It won't dehumidify either as the water chamber has nothing in it where before it would fill up every few hrs. Filters were cleaned, is this just a...

The unit needs to be disassembled and cleaned at least every three to six months. The (squirel cage) blower needs to cleaned at least once a year. I cut away the plastic slots at the bottom of the unit with a tinsnips or a pair of dykes, and use a professional fin/coil cleaner brush to clean the condenser coil every three months. This unit should have two filters, one for the evaperator coil, and the other for the condenser coil, but it doesn't. You would be surprised at how much grime forms on the plastic plower.

If you don't clean the condensor coil on a regular basis, headpressure will increase. This will greatly shorten the life of the compressor.

My Maytag portable A/C will blow cold air for one cycle, then after about five minutes it just blows room temp air and never gets cold again. If I turn power off then back on it does the same thing over...

Cleaned the filter screen or the coils? There are two coils. The evaporator coil and the condensor. There is the "filter screen" in which you can clean which is located in the back top portion of the panel that is easily accessible. However to clean the coils you need to remove ALL the back screws from the back cover and remove the entire back panel. There you will see both coils. From your statement it sounds like there isn't sufficient airflow over your coils and the freon cannot release its cooling effect into the hot air thus it tends to ice up on the coils. You need to wash out all the lint dust from both coils. You can do this with with air conditioning coil cleaner or for starters use a stiff paint brush and vaccuum. Clean as much debris off as you can, then run the unit. It should last longer than your previous five minutes. If it doesn't work then your in trouble. There is a metering device called a TXV or expansion valve that may have failed causing the freon not to flow freely thoughout your system. However it is a rare occassion that it fails so it should be that the coils are dirty. GOOD LUCK

2004 lincoln nav...shaking..trying to cut off...mech said 3 plugs and wires need oto be changed...can I do this or should I do A complete tune up?

There haven't been Tune-Ups,in the last 30 years,on vehicles that are all electronic
You have COP, Coil-On-Plug Ignition System,no plug wires
Spark plugs and Air Filter and other electronic cleaning, is called preventative maintainance, and as I said, that way for decades.

If you have Codes PO-301 thru PO-308,you may have a bad coil or two. I doubt you have three bad.
Their $59.00 at the auto parts store. Install them yourself

The only tuning that is done,is by the PCM (computer),not a repair shop mechanic

Also, scan the Throttle Position Sensor, they fail. You can get that at the store also, and don't need a dealer to sell you the entire throttle body for $700.00.

Clean the MAF Sensor ,with CRC MAF Cleaner

Expect the EGR Valve to fail.

Change your trans fluid, flush your power steering fluid and brake fluid every couple years.

Have the fuel filter changed, then if this does not help, have the fuel pump pressure checked, and check for fuel contamination, fuel additives might help, heet, for moister, and lucas fuel treatment for contamination, and fuel cleaning, for the injectors. These are the best on the market.

Ice formation on the fins- after about 20 minutes of putting it on, a comlete ice (snow) sheet forms on the fins-blocking airflow into the ac.

three possible prolems here 1 check the evaporator coil and filter to see if they are dirty and need to be cleaned dirt gets into the coil by by-passing the filter or the filter is no longer able to contain the dirt. 2 if there is a opening in your furnace that allows air to the furnance without going through the return air vent this could be a cause 3 low on freon in which a tech will be needed to check. Also check the outside unit and see if the coils have a lot of debris on them if so you can use a garden hose to clean them but make sure to have the power off and just spray the coils nothing else. Good luck
