Lost drive and lost brakes, belt still working fine

Wheels just turn like the thing has been disconnected from the gearbox all of a sudden. And only happened when i got home from the repair joint for an electrical problem. Engine works now, but can;t move the thing.
I can see the wheel that the brakes work on is turning when it is in gear, the brakes stop it, just somehow the wheel s are just spinning like it is a big heavy go cart now!

Look on the back of the tractor and locate the release lever for the transmission. If it is pulled out in the "roll" position, push it back in to re-engage the transaxle.

Also if you want to, here is a link whare you can download an Owners Manual/Parts list for your tractor. . . .

Riding my Vepy and hit a bump, not deep, just over a cobblestone section of the road and lost all drive. Any ideas where I should be looking. Thanks

Are you referring to a Vespa scooter? I'm also assuming it starts and idles. If it is fitted with a centre stand park it and get someone to lean on the front to keep the rear wheel off the ground. Start the scooter and DON'T rev it, let it tick over at idle speed. Step back and watch the back wheel. It should slowly turn as it idles.
If it doesn't you could have done a couple of things. You could have jumped the drive belt off or damaged a roller in the gearbox.
if it does turn your better off getting a mechanic to deal with it as the issue could be deeper inside the engine or gearbox.

Disassembling the gearbox on Kenwood mixer A707

If the belt wheel is pressed onto a spindle, you need a gear puller. Do you have any pictures of this? I am trying to visualize the problem.

I have lost all drive in all gears. Nissan nv400 62 plate reg. After leaving a roundabout there was some pulling/grabbing from the front wheels and all drive was lost

drive shaft popped out or the clutch has gone. might still look attached but it will be disconnected in the dif. push it back in. or remove completely and replace the circlip as this is the only thing that hold the drive shaft in place. driving to fast around corners can pop the drive shaft out. can also lose all the gearbox oil if the seal is broken.

I have a hu700f Husqvarna push mower the drive wheels will spin if elevated, but they won't pull the mower at all. I tried replacing the belt, but that didnt help.

was the belt tight when you fitted new one? if so then you have a gearbox fault. it could be something minor such as the roll pin shearing off that goes through the gearbox pulley (that the belt turns) so the belt spins the pulley but not the gearbox shaft. But in my experience its usually the friction plates and needle rollers that wear out inside the gearbox and i dont hink you can but individual parts to repair the gearbox internals. So it could be an expensive complete gearbox needed. One thing you can try is making the cable that engages the drive as tight as possible on the adjuster and see if that works,if it does it might not last that long as it means the internals are nearly worn out. But check the belt, check the gearbox pulley and check the drive gears on the output shafts ( take the driving wheels off ) and make sure the gears are not full of mud and old grease.

Hi, we have a Merc B200 cdi manual with 50k on with full service history. whilst driving there was an knocking rumbling sound and feel through the steering. This got worse until we lost all drive ? the car...

Sounds like you have stripped splines, damaged CV joint or popped axle retaining clip. jack one wheel at time, run slowly in drive with brakes off. the offending wheel will not rotate but axle will. if gearbox/diff axle should not rotate.

Alko 700/620/600 mower brake problem with peerless 700 transmission

Hi, your problem is simple and is all to do with the brake you adjusted. Remove the two bolts, one either side of the brake adjuster, remove the brake assembly, remove clean and lubricate the two pins and the holes they slide in. Reassemble the brake assembly and adjust the centre nut so that the brake comes on and off. This should be about a quarter inch of travel on the short brake lever. Regards Phil.

Maytag washer sqealing

hi Garrett,

sounds like a frozen gearbox. check the pulley that is being driven by the motor or by the secondary belt that you are saying. it could be the gear box broke and would not spin. another thing to look at once the gearbox is down is the brake mechanism. it could have broke down and would not run because the brake is not yet released.

tnx 4 using fixya,

Motor runs but the drive drum that hold the sanding belt does not turn.

Instead of removing the drum, remove the belt and the cover over the gearbox. The gearbox cover is normaly fixed in place by screws around the drive pulley. There may be a couple of screws under the pulley, if so they can be accessed via holes in the pulley wheel itself. Check for worn or stripped gears. These gears can be replaced if need be, but if this is the case make sure you remove and clean out all the grease first and replace that aswell as it may contain bits of teeth that have come off the faulty gear. As far as I know belt sander drive rollers can not be removed without removing the drive inside the gearbox first.
