The problem is wear on the sides of the driver blade. With the constant up/down movement of the driver against either side of the nose plate, it eventually narrows enough to allow part of the fine wire 71 series staple to find it's way between the driver blade and the inside wall of the nose plate. A new driver blade cures this completely. Rainco tackers have become a bit rare but the good news is, they're actually manufactured by Fasco and the Fasco driver fits into the Rainco piston by the removal of a single pin to allow the old blade out, replace with the new Fasco blade, re-insert the pin into the piston, then re-assemble the gun and you're away.

Fasco has been out of business for several years. The motors are still available. You will need to find the model number off your old unit. Once you have that model number you can find the replacement motor at one of these websites.
