Older GE dryer: heats fine, drum doesn't turn

Model DDE 7500GAL WH There's a very faint humming. Apparently it worked fine through one load then wouldn't turn on the next, but if the belt's been stretching out they might not have noticed it slipping.
Once I find my missing socket wrench I can get inside. Will I be able to diagnose the problem visually?

Check that the blower housing is clear of foreign objects by trying to move the drum by hand in a counter clockwise direction ,dont go to far just try and move it, if that is clear, it will move freely, if not clear blower housing, if that is not your problem then you may have a bad motor.

We have a General Electric Dryer, Model # DDE 5300 GBLWH.WE KEEP GETTING WHAT LOOKS LIKE OIL STAINS IN THE CLOTHS .IT NOT THE WASHER THATS A GE TOO .

There could be some rubber/plastic or other contaminants in the drum, that leach on to your clothes when the dryer heats up. It's possible that some oil got on the felt seal that goes around your drum.

My GE Model DDE 5300 Dryer leaves grease marks on my clean clothes. Is this any easy fix or is it time to buy a new dryer?

Probably dried grease that came out of a worn out bearing. With it's age it's time for a new one.

GE dryer model DDE8200GALAD was working fine. After removing a load and trying to dry another, after inserting the load and shutting the door when you turn the timer to start it before pushing the start...

If you hear the motor humming and not starting at all it most likely has a severe friction problem with the drum or motor. It could possibly have some type of garment jamming the blower wheel preventing the motor from starting too.

Open the dryer door and manually rotate the dryer drum counter clockwise (CCW). It should take very little effort to rotate the drum. If it's hard to rotate that could explain why the motor hums instead of starting up. If it turns freely, shut the door and see if will start. If it still hums and not start it may have bad motor or a low voltage supply to the motor.

Humming, but no spinning

It could be the capacitor which kick starts the motor.

they are relatively cheap to replace.
