My GE Model DDE 5300 Dryer leaves grease marks on my clean clothes. Is this any easy fix or is it time to buy a new dryer?

There are no noticeable grease marks after washing, but in reading posts elsewhere, someone suggested it could be residue from the washer that, after heated, will turn dark. So it is impossible for me to determine whether it is a washer or dryer problem. The dryer is older--+10 years.

Probably dried grease that came out of a worn out bearing. With it's age it's time for a new one.

SOURCE: clothes not getting dried

Are you sure that the duct is clean and free flowing? If the duct is partially blocked the dryer's efficiency drops dramatically. I would double check the duct at both ends and clean out as required - air flow is very important - with the dryer on - go check the air coming out of he duct outside - if it is very forceful - then the problem is elsewhere - however if only a little bit of sir is coming out - your all plugged up!.

SOURCE: GE dryer, black grease stain on cloth

I have the same problem, I haven't resolved it but it seems to be due to the drum of the dryer being able to move more than it's supposed to and things getting caught in between the drum and whatever it sits in, at the front of the dryer. I have found things caught in there before and when I've pulled them out they had a brown/yellow grease stain on them. Other times something in the dryer will have this same stain - although no longer caught it seems it must have been caught at some point then became free again, with the stain. I'm thinking something is loose or if the drum is supported at the back by a bearing of some sort, this bearing may be worn down and the drum isn't sitting right.

SOURCE: Dryer leaves black marks on clothes

Front bearing assembly or just the slides. Easy check is open the door reach in and push up in the front if the drum has play replace bearing assembly or maybe just get away with the slides if it hasn't eaten in to far. To replace watch the video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html

We have a General Electric Dryer, Model # DDE 5300 GBLWH.WE KEEP GETTING WHAT LOOKS LIKE OIL STAINS IN THE CLOTHS .IT NOT THE WASHER THATS A GE TOO .

There could be some rubber/plastic or other contaminants in the drum, that leach on to your clothes when the dryer heats up. It's possible that some oil got on the felt seal that goes around your drum.

GE dde 5300 dryer overheats.

You need to replace the "cycling thermostat" on your unit. Here is the part to order.

The thermostat is located at the back of the drum on top of the heater assembly.

Dryer is leaving black, grease-like marks

I know, this is a common problem with side loaders. I have an old fashioned top loader myself to avoid this trouble. First check that the seals on the door haven't come loose (around the glass window). Keep the seals cleaned out regularly, so grimy, icky, muck doesn't build up inside. When the unit is not in use, leave the door opened!

This will allow unwanted moisture to escape instead of building up in the dryer, to smelly muck.

It probably smells pretty bad too.

Hopefully this will fix your problem.

If left untreated to long this can be a very hard problem to fix. However fortunately it sounds like your unit is still under warranty. If the above fixes don't work, I would seriously recommend you have your unit professionally serviced and cleaned.

We have had this dryer for 6 years and for the last year it has been leaving brown marks on our clothes. The brown streaks will not come out easily. We have cleaned the dryer on the inside but this has not...

This is usually from the clothes being pinched. Either in the front or rear. The front uses a glide type system on GE style dryers and felt and rollers on most others. Here is a link. Check the type of dryer you have or send me the model # and I will direct you, then follow the links in the troubleshooting to the video that fits your dryer. If you enter your model # you can also get diagrams and illustrations that will also show you what type of dryer. The repairs are easy to do and inexpensive.

Clothes getting greasy marks

There is nothing that has grease on it that can leak into the dryer I would do a good inspection in the drum and clean it.
