OK. Now if you feel you can do this try it. If you don't feel comfortable with electricity, find someone who is. Turn the breaker off to the room that controlls the fan. You need to get to the canopy at the top of the ceiling. This is ussally where the controller is placed for the remote. Take the controller out of the canopy by removing the wirenuts and carefully taking it out. It is really tight and sometimes difficult to do. Now connect the wire from the ceiling junction box to the fans wires. Turn the power back on and see if the switches and or the chains work. Trying to see if the remote that was in the canopy is bad. Process of elimination is what we are trying to do here.
Trying to turn it on manualy would not cause any problems. from what you described, i would get new batteries for the remote and try again

Had installed a few months ago; working fine. We just misplaced the remote for a day and tried to try on manually by pulling chains, but didn't work. When found remote, tried to turn on but won't work?
When I push any button on the remote, the red light turns on so it couldnt' be the batteries!
Leave the switch on the wall on. Then try the remote. Is this a new installation? Would like more info to help you!
