    CAUTION

The Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system must be
disarmed before performing service around SIR system components or SIR
system wiring. Failure to do so may cause accidental deployment of the
air bag, resulting in unnecessary SIR system repairs and/or personal
    injury.

Before proceeding, make sure a new steering wheel retaining bolt is available as the bolt removed must not be reused.

Make sure the front wheels are in the straight-ahead position.

If equipped, properly disarm the SIR (air bag) system.

Remove the steering wheel spoke covers, if equipped.

Remove the air bag module retaining nuts or bolts. Lift the air
bag module from the steering wheel and detach the air bag wiring
connector from the air bag module. Remove the air bag module from the
steering wheel and properly place aside.

    CAUTION

When carrying a live air bag, make sure the air bag and trim
cover are pointed away from the body. In the unlikely event of an
accidental deployment, the bag will then deploy with minimal chance if
injury. When placing a live air bag on a bench or other surface, always
face the bag and trim cover up, away from the surface. This will reduce
the motion of the module if it is accidentally deployed.

Detach the cruise control wiring connector from the steering wheel. Remove and discard the steering wheel retaining bolt.

Install Steering Wheel Puller T67L-3600-A, or equivalent and
remove the steering wheel. Route the contact assembly wiring harness
through the steering wheel as the wheel is lifted off the shaft.

    To install:

Make sure the vehicle's front wheels are in the straight-ahead
position. Route the contact assembly wire harness through the steering
wheel opening at the 3 o'clock position and install the steering wheel
on the shaft. The steering wheel and shaft alignment marks should be
        aligned.

Install a new steering wheel retaining bolt and tighten to 25-34 ft. lbs. (34-46 Nm).

Attach the cruise control wiring harness to the steering wheel and snap the connector assembly into the steering wheel clip.

Attach the air bag wiring connector to the air bag module,
install the air bag module to the steering wheel. Install and tighten
the 2 bolts to 89-124 inch lbs. (10-14 Nm).

Install the steering wheel spoke covers, if equipped. Connect the battery cables, negative cable last.

Prove out the air bag system by turning the ignition key to the
        RUN
position and visually monitoring the air bag indicator lamp in the
instrument cluster. The indicator lamp should illuminate for
approximately 6 seconds and then turn OFF. If the indicator lamp does
not illuminate, stays ON, or flashes at any time, a fault has been
detected by the air bag diagnostic monitor.

Check the steering wheel, horn and steering column for proper
operation. Road test the vehicle and check the speed control for proper
        operation.
Good luck... and remember rated this help!!!

:Remove key switch on `91 Ford Taurus?

If you mean the switch that the key cylinder operates, it should be near the floor on the steering column. You just disconnect the harness and remove two screws.
You have to remove the cover around the steering wheel and push a pin to remove the key lock. There are videos on YouTube to do that.

How to install part sw5928 cruise control switch to a 1998 ford ranger

1 Open the hood and loosen the clamp bolt on the negative battery cable with an adjustable wrench turned in a counterclockwise direction. Pull the cable straight up and off of the terminal and push it aside. Wait 15 minutes, before continuing this procedure, to allow the air bag circuitry to deactivate.
2 Pry the two plastic screw covers from the rear of the steering wheel spokes in the passenger compartment with a flat blade screwdriver. Remove the two screws revealed after removing the covers with an 8 mm socket attached to a ¼-inch drive ratchet wrench turned in a counterclockwise direction.
3 Lift the horn pad straight up from the top of the steering wheel. Carefully pull the air bag wiring harness connector from the bottom of the horn pad. Set the horn pad aside.
4 Remove the two screws holding each cruise control switch (there are two switches, one on each side of the steering wheel) with a Torx screwdriver turned in a counterclockwise direction. Lift up on the switch and pull the wiring connector apart with your thumb and forefinger. Repeat this action for both switches. Remove the switches from the steering wheel.
5 Install the new switches (make sure the "On/Off" switch is on the right-hand side) onto the steering wheel using the original mounting holes. Tighten the holding screws with a Torx screwdriver turned in a clockwise direction.
6 Push the air bag wiring connector back into the bottom of the horn pad until it is fully seated. Place the horn pad into position on the steering wheel. Tighten the holding screws from the back of the steering wheel with an 8 mm socket and ratchet. Push the two screw covers into the back of the steering wheel until they snap into place.
7 Place the negative battery cable back onto the terminal and tighten the clamp nut in a clockwise direction with an adjustable wrench. Close the hood.

Needto replace heater core in 99 ford taurus, need help

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Replacement heater core
  • Clean container
  • Wrench
  • Screwdriver
  • Steering wheel nut
    Removal
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least one minute for the air bag system to lose power. Make sure the front wheels are straight ahead and lock the steering column.

  2. Detach the air bag module by removing the bolts from underneath both sides of the steering wheel and the electrical connector. Remove the steering wheel bolt and press the wheel away from the steering column. Remove the lower steering column cover.

  3. Insert a 1/8-inch wire or pin punch in the shroud hole under the ignition switch while it's in the "Run" position. Press on the pin and pull on the ignition switch lock cylinder to remove it.

  4. Disassemble and remove the instrument panel from the Taurus' interior. This includes the radio and all panels, electrical connectors, harnesses and screws. You'll need an assistant to help you lift and remove the instrument panel.

  5. Drain the engine coolant from the cooling system, using a clean container for reuse. Remove the heater hoses, actuator and metal cover from the heater. Disengage the spring from the heater core cover and the lever.

  6. Depress the locking ramp and remove the lever from the secondary air temperature control (the lever is brittle, so don't bend it). Remove the primary air conditioning air temperature control door shaft from the pin.

  7. Remove the heater core cover and seal from the heater/air conditioning housing assembly. Remove the heater core from the heater/air conditioning housing by pressing on the core tubes and assembly.

  8. Installation
  9. Install the replacement heater core to the heater/air conditioning housing. Install the core cover, seal, lever, spring, metal cover, actuator and heater hoses.

  10. Replace and assemble the instrument panel with your assistant's help. Connect the steering wheel (use a new bolt to connect it to the column), air bag and negative battery cable.

  11. Refill the cooling system with either the old coolant or new. Start the Taurus' engine and let it reach normal operating temperature. Watch the climate control operation and check for any leaks.

I need to repace the cruise control switch how do I get the horn cover off

1. Remove the lower steering column cover.
2. Remove the AIR BAG bolts from the back side of the steering wheel with a T-30 socket. Install the bolts back in the air bag for reassembly. The AIR BAG will snap into place when pushed down on carefully.
3. Remove 2 screws on the bottom of the steering wheel cover. The wires need to slide out so the switch can be removed.
4. Remove the cruise control switches.

The AIR BAG does not have to be disconnected to remove the switches, just don't let it flop around or stretch the wires.

Take off the steering wheel covers. The switch is screwed on with two screws. It is easy to change. You haft to pull out the lock cylinder to remove the covers, turn it to run position, push a small screwdriver into the access hole and pull it straight out.
