Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel after dropping it. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful.

Andrea

My S800 has been amazing, however since Thursday when I take a pic and zoom in, the image is very bright, or white and has lines all over it (looks like a bad canvass painting, non zoomed images are fine!...

Hi, the problem is in the shutter that you can found inside of the lens unit and maybe the shutter not work properly or damage. you will notice also once you take picture during night time the pictue is good but if you zoom in you will find the lines all over the picture.

tryo to open your camera and check the lens unit. First try to disconnect the the lens cable and connect then check. if the problem still occur, you need to do is open the lens unit and adjust the shutter if working fine or not.also check the flat cable if its not broken.

if you can't do this bring to service center

goodluck and thank you my friend

V570 Dual Lens, will not switch to ordinary lens.

Hi, My V570 works fine on widescreen lens (the default on startup) but when I zoom up to switch to the other lens it goes to a dark blank screen and will take a similarly dark blank picture. I can hear the zoom activating as I click it so I think that is ok. I opened the camera

Focus on zoom

it is not the ccd problem .
the lens adjustment and ccd have no relation.actually when optical unit was replaced ,it is not fixed properly and due to internal lens de-adjustment.you would find blurry images on zooming.
it must be re-adjusted.

Canon sd450 - spilled a little lemonade on the camera

maybe the lemonade was sticky and the shutter can't open? otherwise the circuitry could have been fried if you turned it on before it dried inside.

Blury Display on FE140

It sounds like your lens's focus element is stuck. Given the events you describe it is possible that a grain of sand has worked its way into the focus motor's gearing and jammed it up. Normally the small motor moves the focus optic in and out to achieve proper focus, if its movement is limited or completely jammed you will experience blurry pictures. The camera will have to be disassembled and the sand cleaned out to restore normal function. There are repair providers you can find online who can work on your camera. Lens cap test...

Switch on camera into Shutter mode. Put lenscap over lens or block it so you get a black LCD. Have a look at that first. Only a general indication but if there ARE any bad pixels on the LCD they will be visible as coloured dots. Not too important as THAT doesn't affect the pic but personally I would not put up with it - took one back for exchange for that reason .. who wants to look at spots. The CCD is the real one to look for. With lens still blanked off to a black screen set the shutter at 2 secs, take a pic then set at 4 secs, take another pic. You won't see much on the LCD so you should download those tests to your editior - Paintshop Pro, Photoshop or whatever. THEN you get a much bigger pic (black) to look at. You'll probably find at least one or two little spots, almost inevitable with many, but you should NOT get many and also very noticeably bad spots. If so , complain and exchange.
