start with the obvious - your connections in the right holes - ie: green/black etc correct configuration to speakers
does your pc recognise an installed audio card ?
sound muted ?

Always visit the manufacturers website for the latest audio drivers for your OS ie:XP/Vista/Win7

It will automatically be activated if you remove your Graphic Card

Enter the BIOS and change the setting of the USB speed to HIGH SPEED. The other setting is FULL SPEED. Whichever was enabled, do the opposite. Also go to this link: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Anyway, if it's a A8V-VM, this will be the link for the driver,

go to cmos , press DEL key to enter cmos, look for the "integrated peripherals" menu, find the onboard sound and make sure it is enabled, press ESC to navigate away from the page, them save and exit to store the settings, restart then load the sound drivers from the cd that came with the motherboard.

There is few things you have check

1. CD/DVD drive (if it is old one Or may be a fault in the lens on the CD/DVD drive )
2. Which Operating system you are going to install(Dont install the lower version of the windows product)
3. If the CD/DVD Drive is not in a good position that means if it is like narrow , slider positions.
4. Change the CD/DVD driver IDE bus cable .

these are steps you have check after all these process you cant install all the files please inform
