Try contacting the company for a replacement recovery disc or purchase the appropriate Windows XP disc and download the drivers from the manufacturer's site.
Hope this helps!

How to reformat laptop

  • 1

If you have the recovery cd, you can just pop-in the CD, select the reformat option and the installation process will continue automatically. Some laptop might have a special partition in the drive contains the operating system, drivers, etc. in case you want to reformat your laptop without the CD.

If you don't have the recovery CD, you usually can request one from the manufacturer. Otherwise, if you want to do a clean install, make sure you download all the drivers for your laptop, this may includes: motherboard, chipset, graphic card, sound card, modem, network card. Once you do that, put in the OS CD and start installing.

If you decided to do a clean install without the recovery CD, it would be best to create partition on your harddrive first, so you can have dedicated partition for operating system and backup. The next time you want to reformat your harddrive, you can just reformat that particular partition ex. C:\

I need to find a recovery disk so that I can reformat my laptop. There are just too many problems to deal with one issue at a time. Where can I find or order a recovery disk?

you cannot find recovery disk for your computer any where in internet.... if you need a recovery disc, you need to create one....
in order to format your computer i recommend you to format your computer using the operating system cd that came along with the computer.... if you dont have that cd you can use any of your friends disc....
just entirely format your computer, and re install a fresh copy of operating system....all your OS problems will get solved.... once you are done, you might be required to install the drivers for the devices like audio, card reader, wifi, bluetooth etc...seperately... then after those devices will work....

How to reset computer to factory settings on a acer aspire 6920 G need to wipe compter clean

you need to reload everything from your Recovery Disc. Do you have a recovery disc? If you don't have, just format your hard drive and re-install your OS. Install your motherboard drivers from the CD you have when you first bought it. Also, reinstall the programs you have. In this way, you have everything fresh like brand new.

How can I do a complete system restore without a disk? Take my computer back to how it was when we first purchased.

If your system is a HP Pavilion then at startup or boot you can press F8 or F10 Im not sure about the exact keys, but hp stores a recovery of the OS on a partition which is usually hidden and does not have access from within the OS.
So try using function key that works for your system, the recovery will start automatically.
but remember this deletes all the data on the primary partition ie the OS partition.

If this thing does not work check if there is a recovery partition that needs to be burnt on the CD/DVD.

Else you need a OS disc and format the PC and reinstall the OS

I had to have hard drive replaced. Now I am having trouble booting up recovery disks.

did you format and reinstall your os first?

also if you started from scratch, some programs that need to be there are not, so your recovery disc may not work.

I make back up files of all my exe., and setups. I also keep all zip files..put them on cd.

so in case i crash or worst case have to re format a drive, i reinstall the os, and i have all programs on cd.
