Hotpoint TDC32 dryer door safety switch My Hotpoint dryer will not stop working/spinning when you open the door. You have to switch off at the mains each time to get it to stop?

look inside frame by door take out switch and replace it

Have you checked the venting system? The 4" flex line that connects to the back of your dryer may be stopped up, maybe even all the way to the outdoors.

Tumble dryer stopped working, first a filter care light, so cleaned the filter and now the light comes on but nothing happens. Any ideas? Thanks

belt tensioner could have a broken spring on it or motor is going bad. It could be a problem with the belt being stretched or oily but probably not- check first.

Sounds as if the door switch is the problem. This is normally a safety switch that stops the dryer when the door is opened.
Unplug the dryer.
Remove the door switch and check the switch condition with a continuity meter after removing the wires. Try turning the switch on and off....the meter should read power on and off when you do that.
You may have to remove the front of the dryer to get to the door switch.

My best guess is that air flow is blocked in the dryer vents or internal ductwork, allowing the dryer to overheat and trip the safety thermostat, shutting the dryer down until it cools off enough for the safety thermostat to self-reset.

Try using a long brush to clean lint accumulation through the front air flow vent, then remove the vent hose and clean from the rear. If that doesn't do the trick, you may have to pull off the front panel to get to the 'innards' of the dryer to further clean accumulated lint from the duct.

Lint build-up around one of the safety thermostats can hold enough heat to cause the thermostat to trip very quickly... Before the dryer has actually had time to heat up very much. The termostat has no way of 'knowing' that itself, and not the dryer, is overheated. BE SURE when working with any appliance that you disconnect the electrical connection before servicing.

try fuse on plug this may be gone, also the door interlock switch, try a light bang with fist near door catch see if this will do it, what i do suspect is the door inerlock is faulty, this is a safety device which locks the door when machine is in washig/spinning mode it aso stops machine working when you open the door, this is also a safety device, good luck al. xxxx
