96 Isuzu Rodeo turns over but won't start...

It ran fine yesterday, tried to start it today and it turns over but won't start. I disconnected the battery hoping something would re-set, but that didn't work either. Any ideas?

What if I put in a new fuel pump it just stop on me me no lights nothing can u help

  • dingdong10 Aug 01, 2011

If it won't crank or no electricity, check that battery terminals are contacting properly and that battery isn't dead. If it does still crank but just died while you were driving along, check that fuel pump is getting power. also check fuses.

It may be your ignition module, but good luck finding one, but really it could be anything. check spark, then fuel and narrow it down to one or the other.

Always check for spark and fuel. If it doesnt have any of those it will not start up. You need to pull a spark plug wire carefully and use a phillis screwdriver and put it in the end of the plug wire and put it close to metal and have someone crank it over and check the spark. If no spark you need to check or replace crank sensor. Check for fuel pressure. Check for injector noid firing. Injectors use the cam position sensor.

My Dad has one of these and he figured out that the ignition has a grease in it that is not very conductive, to solve the problem he sprays electrical cleaner in the keyhole and take cover off and spray the back electrical side of the ignition. note: you have to work the key back and forth while spraying. (ONLY USE ELECTRICAL CLEANER) NO WD-40 or any other oil, you will fry the ignition. we get it at Wal-Mart and is called {CRC QD Electronic Cleaner} in a red and white can.

The igintion keyhole is the key tumbler assembly and cleaning it out hurts the tumblers inside that assembly.

My 97 Isuzu trooper will not start today...bought it yesterday started and ran just fine on a 53 min ride back home ....any help/suggestions??

Check your battery if everything else seems fine. Otherwise, I would need more information about what the car is doing when you try to start it.

1991 Isuzu Rodeo will start initialy fine but if hot it won't restart.

Improve the FixYa experience for everyone by voting.

It sounds as though you may have a faulty fuel pressure regulator. In order to accurately pinpoint the problem, you will have to perform a OBD-I diagnostic scan.

All the best,

My 4x4 hubs won't lock on my 96 Isuzu rodeo

I assume they are manual locking hubs? Once you engage the hubs and select 4WD you must reverse a few meters and you will hear them click into place, If they don't lock in your hubs may need servicing, They are quite easy to dismantle and re-grease which you can do yourself if you are handy with mechanical buts and pieces.
