My Garmin Nuvi will not turn off.

My gps will not shut off even when I try the off button. The Garmin screen will display until it decides to go off. connect the gps to my car and cannot get any info on it. Usually I can, but at times this thing happens. Thanks.

The reset button can be used to switch your device off if the screen is frozen and you are unable to switch the device off by the power button.

To reset a nuvi 2xx:

  1. Look at the bottom of the device
  2. Locate the small circle with a dot inside
  3. Press the circle to reset the device.
To reset a nuvi 3xx or 6xx:
  1. Lift the antenna
  2. Locate a button with the word Reset inside
  3. Press the button to reset the device.
The device will now switch off.

Try recalibrating the display. Turn off the Nuvi. Place your finger on the upper left-hand corner of the screen and hold it there while pushing down on the power button to turn the unit on. Press all of the dots as they are presented. Once completed the Nuvi will display Calibration Complete

This will recalibrate your touchscreen to the LCD display. If this doesn't resolves your problem. then your touchscreen may be defective.

Garmin 2720 touch the (s) and the (T) responds
You need to recalibrate the touchscreen. Try this: Turn off the Nuvi. Place your finger on the upper left-hand corner of the screen and then push down on the power button to turn the unit on. Release the power button when the Garmin logo appears. Continue to press on the upper left-hand corner of the screen until you see the calibration screen.

Go through the entire procedure of pressing each dot as it appears on the screen.

Once completed the Nuvi will display Calibration Complete This will recalibrate your touchscreen to the LCD display.

If this doesn't resolves your problem. then your touchscreen may be defective.

Touchscreen on a Garmin nuvi 1350 doesn't work. How do I fix this.
Try recalibrating it using the following method:

Nuvi 11xx, 12xx, 13xx, 14xx, 24xx, 25xx Series: Turn off the Nuvi. Place your finger on the upper left-hand corner of the screen and then push down on the power button to turn the unit on. Release the power button when the Garmin logo appears. Continue to press on the upper left-hand corner of the screen until you see the calibration screen. Press all of the prompted dots.

Once completed the Nuvi will display Calibration Complete

This will recalibrate your touchscreen to the LCD display.

If this doesn't resolves your problem. then your touchscreen may be defective and may need to be replaced.

Hello,

Doing a soft reset on the nuvi will usually get the nuvi up and running.
If there is a reset button on the bottom, press and hold it until the nuvi powers back on. If it does not have the reset button on the bottom, slide and hold the power switch to the left for at least 10 seconds.
Also running the Garmin WebUpdater and reloading the latest update will resolve most issues.

Look at the instructions for your Nuvi to find the screen resolution (possibly VGA) and then use a program like IrfanView (free) to resize the photos to something like the same. 5MP is far too large a file for your Garmin to even to attempt to display.

to soft reset & keep data....
Slide power key to on/off, hold it for 8/10 seconds

Update from Garmin, use the web-updater. keep it updated, delete old junk and POIs.

hard reset.
Hold lower corner of screen, while turning on, keep pressing, when "clear all data appears" click yes,
sould resolve the problem
