I had a similar problem with mine probably from dropping it too much. I dropped on the bathroom floor and the case popped open slightly on the top of the player. I snapped it back and thought nothing of it and later it would not charge. i got it to charge again by lifting the cover sligthly when plugging in the charging cable.

It is possible that dropping your player on the ground or the floor, was not an aspect of device performance that the manufacturer thought to design into the device, unfortunately. You probably want to avoid doing this with most other electronic devices in the future. I had a similar problem and called the manufacturer, which told me that they would repair mine for the same price that I could purchase a new one.
If has not produced a drop of water for several years, then it's not working properly. But, this may be a case of setting the humidity level to high. In other words, if you set it at 70% or Maximum, that's the humidity level that it will maintain, not remove. To remove humidity, the level must be set low (35% or Minimum).
To test the unit, based on what I just said, place it in the bathroom, set the level as low as possible and turn the shower on medium hot. Do Not turn the bathroom exhaust fan ON. As you leave, close the bathroom door. Return in 15 minutes, turn the shower OFF and check the bucket water collected. If there's any water in it, it's working fine. It was probably a case of the humidity level being set to high.

Not sure if this will help you, but my son dropped his on to a concrete pavement and it wen black, the charge lite would only come up for one second then go out when I plugged it in to charge. Just for fun, I had a spare battery and changed it. In this instance, the system started working again.
Not sure how this can happen, but dropping it on the floor seems to have killed the battery that was in it. A simple replacement battery did the trick for me.
