I would think best to speak to evinrude & find recomended hours, if there still running fine, depends how long you’re trips are & if you’re on the high seas abroad ie long trips.
New models have more torque and are more economical to run and are 4 strokes ( 2 strokes are now ******* to sell from dealers )
That gives you advantages over the 2 stroke versions
However depending on your financial situation, having the sacrificial plates replaced, a compression test done , and a full service on the fuel system may give you more hours of reliable operation
Talk it over with reputable dealers as there are deals that can be made and possible trade-in offers that can be enticing

Hi, did you buy your engine used? Sounds like your gonna have to get the carb or carbs cleaned. Its possible you could have a stopped up fuel filter, or not enough spark but i am guessing its gonna be the carbs. They got some gunk in em i bet. Probably old fuel turned to gunk from setting up. I had the same problem on my 40 horse.
Testimonial: "Hi, thank you very much for your help, I will strip the carb down and have a look. Once again, many thanks, I am very greatful"

Hi. If you just want to run the motor then you can do it in you driveway. Go to a sports store with boating equipment and ask for "Muffs" to run your boat motor out of water. You can see a pictures of outboard motor muffs on google images:

Take the muffs and place them over the water intakes located above the propeller (look like vents on each side). Hook a garden hose up the muffs and start water flow. Make sure nothing is near the propeller. Make sure to pump the bulb in the fuel line to the motor until it stiffens. Crank the motor. When the motor starts, you should see water start to flow out of the back of the motor near the cover and out of the center of the propeller with the exhaust. You must keep water flow to the motor using the muffs while it is running or it will burn up.
