use the dip stick to measure the oil level there will be a F on the dip stick to show where full is. Wipe the dip stick with a rag and then put back in to measure the oil. Not mentioned about the rag in link above !
You can do this with cars too !

SOURCE: oil level YZ 125

Hello....for the crank case you will want to use Yamalube 4 (10w-30) or an equivalent SAE 10W-30 SE motor oil. There is not a dip stick on the bike, Need to measure teh oil in accordance with Yamaha specs. You will need to check the owners manual or contact the local dealer service department and should be able to tell you how much needs to be added. If you don't have good 1qt mix cup you can get one at a good motorcycle shop. These are very help full in accurately measuring your premix oil for the fuel as well. Hope this helps

SOURCE: Mower engine cuts out at exactly 1/2 full tank of gas

When that happens loosen the fuel cap and see if it stays running. If this is a gravity feed system make sure you have the correct fuel filter on it,the clear paper filters can allow vapor lock to happen, put the small briggs and stratton filter in it,which has a small chamber and a stainless screen. Also make sure there is no excess fuel line that would cause a dip or a high spot for a vapor lock to occur.

SOURCE: I have a DYT400 with a Briggs and Straton Intek plus 19.5 ovh. When I move the speed lever to full speed, the mower wants to choke out. Also, when I put the lever on stop, it just keeps running. the

You have governor with a missing spring or it could be in the wrong place. If the springs are all OK then you may have a bad governor gear in the crankcase. This engine is bad about the governor gears bending the governor gear shaft.

What has to be done if I tipped my mower and possible oil in the upper part of the engine ?

pull the spark plug out, pull the engine through about 5 or 6 times. This should blow out most of the oil. Then squirt about a teaspoon of gas in the plug hole put the plug back in an tighten.and try it it should go . Good luck .

Low RPM's

I know this is an old post but I figure maybe my solution will be found by someone else doing a Google search and it can help them. Hopefully, you've gotten yours fixed in the 10+ months since you asked this.
Anyway, if you remove the top plastic shield from the mower (two screws hold it in place, plus a small cover near the air filter that needs to be removed) you will see a small spring that attaches to a tab at the front of the mower. If you bend that tab forward it will put more tension on the spring and increase the engine speed. You'll know if you are looking at the correct spring if you lightly press on the spring and the engine speed increases.
It is a good idea to monitor the adjustment with a tachometer. My owner's manual says the engine has a 3,100 max rpm. You don't want to set it above the specified rpm or you'll probably burn the motor up in a short time. I set mine at 3,060 rpm. It's hard to get it perfect but I figured slightly low is better than too high. Mine had been running at 2,800 rpm.
I bought a small engine tach on eBay for around $9. The wire wraps around the spark plug wire 4-5 times and then you can read the engine speed. It also keeps track of how many hours the engine has been running. I figure that will come in handy for oil change intervals so I permanently mounted it to the mower. It almost looks like it came that way from the factory. :-)
Here's the tach I bought: Hour Meter Tachometer 2 & 4 Stroke Small Engine

I have a 190 cc 675 series briggs and stratton engine on a craftsman bush trimmer. When I pour gas in the tank, gas immediately leaks outs of the primer bulb. Help please.

This condition indicates that the float and needle in the carburetor are stuck open. The only solution is to disassemble and clean the carburetor. Make sure that there is no fuel in your oil. If so, change the oil, remove the plug, turn engine several times to put oil back to where it needs to be (fuel acts as a thinner), replace plug and you should be ready to start.

I can't pull the starter rope more than a few inches. Just purchased the mower. Its a craftsman push mower

Try taking the spark plug out and pulling it. If you have a bunch of gas, oil, or water come out, and the engine turns over, you will have your problem. If you have stuff in there, you will want to pull the starter rope a bunch of times to try to push it all out, and then dry off the spark plug, put it back in, and give it a go. You may have to leave the plug out for while to let the cylinder dry out.
