John Deere X320. If at any point while I'm mowing I back up mower will not re-engage.

The wiring diagram shows the reverse switch is normally closed until activated. This would mean forward travel requires switch closed else PTO disengages... same as your experience.

From your description of progressive failure I suspect the switch has failed or has come loose and moved from it's normal position.

Go to the JD website below and search "reverse switch". A parts diagram should display. Look for item 15, part number LVA13307

https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/navigation/equipment/61166

The reverse pedal or linkage must somehow activate the switch.

There could be a problem with the PTO switch or safety interlock module or electrical interconnections so if the reverse switch checks out, further troubleshooting will be necessary. Start at the reverse switch and work your way to the PTO switch then the interlockmodule.

I have small JD tractor that stalls when I put in gear?? What s up

Most small tractors have a mechanism that increases the RPM when a load is put on the engine (putting it in gear). I suggest you go to the JD web site and enter your model number and download the manual.
If the information you need isn't there...JD is good at giving phone support to assist you in fixing your issue.

The safety switch on my clutch keeps messing up and I can't start my JD L118. I understand there are 4 wires on this switch. Can I bypass this switch?

you may want to consider replacing the switch. These safety switches serve a very important function. They protect YOU.
I don't believe in bypassing any safety device on a mower, to many feet have been lost.

JD 855 the idle spring broke and th hydrostatic pedals would not return to their neturel position . before I new what had happene I pushed the reverse and the tractor lunged backward then I pushed the...

Yes there is a safety switch. And this safety switch has to be engaged. If its not engaged then the JD tractor will not start. On JD 855 the safty switch is located under the seat, There is a rod that must be depressed before engage Somehow that rod is bent or its not pressing the switch to the point that the seat would not fully engage the safty switch. In some cases the switch itself is faulty. It has to be checked . Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.
