SOURCE: Spline drill bit won't spin

There a a few things to look for, first is the selector on top in the hammer only position or hammer with rotation. Second look at the spline bit, does the splines look worn excessively also try and look in the nose of the tool for spline condition and last the clutch mechanism might have come apart. Good news though this tool might be covered under warranty, some had a 5 year coverage.

SOURCE: broken shaft 3/8 milwaukee hammer drill mod #5392-1

Yes it does. The collar mechanism and retaining ring come off and under all that is a sleeve with steel ball bearings, what I am saying is it would be better to take to a repair shop. I worked on this tool for years and they are decent to use, but repairing that without proper equiptment is not fun. Let me know your area and I will try and find a repair center for you.

SOURCE: stopped working in mid drill. squeeze the trigger, nothing happens

It could be a dirty switch connection in the trigger assembly , it happens to me on my electric sanders all the time , just open it up and try blowing it out with an air compressor

Milwaukee heavy duty hammer drill only works when pointed upwards. As soon as I point it down the motor stops (or doesn't start with the drill in that position).

could be loose connection at the switch or brush holders. You can go to Milwaukeetools.com to download a breakdown for this tool.
