SOURCE: Why wont my Omron Blood Pressure Monitor work?

I contacted the manufacturer here is the response with information to contact them yourself if this does not help.

I am sorry to hear that you are having this issue with your readings and would be happy to assist you in determining where the problem lies.
Initially, I would like to provide you with some basic user information on factors that could impact the quality of your readings enough to cause the E error message you have been receiving. I will follow that with some critical steps that you must take in order to obtain a reading on your Omron unit.
User technique is important for reliable measurement results. Listed below are the common causes why you may get an erroneous reading:
Cuff Size - Measure the circumference of your wrist. If the incorrect cuff is used, you may get an inaccurate reading or error messages, if not at the first reading, then after a short period of use because the cuff bladder will be damaged. To determine your wrist size, measure your wrist approximately ½” above your wrist bone using a cloth tape measure. Wrap the tape measure evenly around your wrist. Do not pull the tape tight.
*The cuff that came with your unit is appropriate for wrist circumferences of 5 ¼ to 8 ½ inches. If your wrist circumference is not within that range, your readings will be inaccurate or you may receive error messages.
Cuff Application - Make sure you are wrapping the cuff around your wrist in the correct position. The cuff should be wrapped snugly around your wrist. If your wrist monitor can be used on either the left or right wrist, make sure you have set the monitor to the wrist you are using.
*If the cuff is wrapped too tightly or too loosely, your readings will be inaccurate or you could receive an error message.
Before Taking a Measurement - Avoid eating, drinking alcohol, smoking, exercising, and bathing for 30 minutes and rest for 15 before starting the measurement. Avoid taking a measurement during stressful times. Take the measurement in a quiet place.
Body Position - Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor. If you do not have your wrist at heart level, your reading will be affected. Holding your arms or shoulders tensely may affect the reading. Remain quiet while taking the measurement.
The E error message is telling us that the unit is recognizing some type of interference while taking the reading. This could be as simple as speaking or moving, having a computer, cell phone or medic alert device too close to the phone, a loud television/radio in the same room or more complicated, such as a rapid or weak arterial pulse.
Reading Timing - Because Omron units read your blood pressure by 'listening' to the blood as it vibrates through the artery, the artery must be fully opened for an accurate reading. It is critical to wait a full 5-10 minutes between readings to allow the brachial artery to 'bounce back' from the initial constriction.
Refer to the Instruction Manual provided with the unit for the complete operating instructions.
If after reviewing the information above your unit is still not functioning properly, in order to best serve you, please call our Consumer Support team, toll-free at 800-634-4350. Our trained representatives are available Monday through Friday, 830a to 430p CST to assist you over the phone and try to resolve your issue without sending your unit in for repair. If repair is necessary, they can set up your file to start the process or provide valuable options to your particular situation.
Please have the following information available in order to expedite your call:

1. Model number (from the front of the unit)
2. Serial number (from the sticker on the side of the unit)
3. Proof of purchase information - from the receipt or online verification.

4. The wrist circumferences of all users of your unit.
They will be happy to assist you with your options regarding service.
We appreciate your interest in Omron products and want to ensure your satisfaction.
Please let me know if I may be of further assistance and have a wonderful day!

SOURCE: Blood pressure reading 150/76. Manual Blood pressure 130/72

A monitor using Hg is only a valid monitor reading. Most electronic devices produce approximate results and are mostly good for taking several readings daily and obtaining a mean daily BP. Device calibration appears to be not accessible to the the user. Also, depending on age & condition of your dad, sequential reading must take place after elapse of enough time for circulation to be at steady state in the arm again, or if you immediately after a measurement make another, even with the same monitor you will obtain a different result.

SOURCE: Omron hem-704C blood pressure monitor show down

If your HEM 704C fell hard, it is probably the pressure transducer that is faulty, broken. To my experience it is cheaper to buy a new one then to have it repaired by a technician

I doubt in correctness of reading,my age 58

If you are doubting the Blood Pressure and Pulse readings, there must be a reason for these doubts. But, you failed to explain why you doubted it. Does the BP reading seem unusually high or low? Is the pulse rate, what you expected it to be? Keep in mind, age doesn't always play a huge role in hypertension. It's your general overall health, eating habits, smoking, drinking, etc. In other words, you overall life style, as well as your family's medical history.

These wrist monitors are fairly accurate if applied to the wrist correctly, you keep your wrist at heart level and you don't move during the time that monitor is operating.

If you have doubts, take the monitor with you to your next doctor's appointment. They will probably check your BP with an arm cuff. After they do that, use your wrist monitor correctly and compare it to what the reading was with the doctor's reading. One or two points difference is not a big deal. More than that is.

Hope this helps.

I have hd 1000s. keep ghetting ERR 1 when it begins inflating the cuff, stops and displays error message

My Omron only goes up to about 165 only takes about 1/2 the time it takes to get a reading from my Samsung. For my Samsung, I use a couple of velcro straps (can buy them at electronic dept's and they sold as wire-cord wraps), and I place them so they go across the seem of the arm band and keep it tight as the BP pressure goes over 215. This solution for me is the only way I can get this machine to perform consistently. It still runs about 10 higher than my Omron, but it is consistent - and now no longer gives me "Err-1" messages. BTW - I've got an order in for the "Advocate Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor" and I'll be happy to post how it works after I receive it.
