Why is the diesel fluid leaking from the screw plug on the bottom of my fuel filter on my 1978 Massey Ferguson Model # MF34A?

excessive oil in the sump caused by a fuel leak at the diesel pump putting raw fuel into the sump

replace the plug seal or copper washer
make sure that the fuel is not leaking from around the top seal of the filter and running down to that plug

Not necessary coming from the screw plug but may be from the filter seal or even from the fuel line entering the filter housing. The screw plug is the lowest point where the droplets are formed.

diesel engine --- diesel fuel is leaking past the pump seals into the sump and raising the oil level
that is diluting the sump oil and the oil leak is oil/fuel evaporation for extra hot sump oil
suggest that you discuss this with a diesel pump specialist shop as diluted oil is not good for the motor

my 135 fuel supply pump was leaking into the engine . I removed the pump pressured a line with air and found the leak at the seal

fe 35 23c engine,the diesel feed pipe to the heater plug still drips fuel in the inlet manifold when runnig causing it to splutter is this normal.

I ran into the same problem and found the line to the tank was clogged, take your line loose and see if your fuel flows freely if not blow some air from a compressor back up the line and into the tank. Hope this helpls
