How to replace a oiler?

Wow, an 031 AV and its still running ?? You really got the life out of that one !!! The oiler is mounted on the outside of the block around the crankshaft behind the sprocket. Bar and chain, sprocket and another side cover must come off first. Make sure you blow everything clean with a air compressor during disassembly, because its gonna be gnarly under there.

There MAY be two different types available: one with adjustable oil flow and one without. I would NEVER go with one that is NON-adjustable. Once done, pre-lube your bar and chain with oil prior to starting the saw. This prevents a few hundred revolutions of the chain without lubrication before the new pump gets oil through the delivery port.

Closely monitor the oil tank during the first tank of fuel going through the saw and adjust the oiler toward the minus (-) just a tad bit if the oil tank runs dry BEFORE the gas tank.

My stihl 031AV chainsaw bogs down when pulling trottle

Ive had numerous similar faults with both stihl and husqvarna saws. all turned out to be leaking fuel tank vents. Im not sure if this model has a vented tank or not but it might be worth checking. Sounds like a fuel/air issue.

I think my av elements on my husqvarna 36 chainsaw are too soft. The throtle trigger handle seems not to be tightly secure to the main body of the saw. Also the screws that attach the metal handlebar wont...

The screws into the tank to secure the top handle are self tapping, so if they will not tighten then yes the threads had stripped, you may be able to aquire some over sized screws to cure this, the saw has four rubber anti vibration mounts, and two bumper rubers either side of the tank to stop sideways movement, the later machine had a rubber around the right hand side of the top handle also to stop side ways movement, To change the rubbers you need to remove the starter cover, two of the securing screws also hold the l/h rubbers, remove the alloy chain catcher on the r/h side, and the cover plate top r/h side held with a single screw, the tank should now drop far enough to remove the rubbers, they are screw into the tank wit a self tapping screw on the back, you will need a special tool to remove them part no. 502510002, do not pull the tank too far down or you will stretch the fuel hose.
