Hello, it could be one of three things, if you can bend the panel just enough to see between the panel and inside of the door you will find either a clip, a black plastic or white plastic push pin, or a screw, depending on what you find depends on the answer, you can find a book at your library to help determine and fix the problem.............hope this helps......

Where can I read for free, how to remove the drivers door panel and check on the window regulator for my 1999 Chevrolet Silverado.

Hi Robert, We don't charge unless you want to pay. Have a look at the arm rest and on the underside you will see some holes. They may be covered with small plugs which need to be removed. Remove the cover behind the door release mechanism usually held in place with a Philips screw. carefully lift the cluster of switches (if mounted on the door panel) and disconnect the electrical plugs behind them. Remove the deep screws under the arm rest. Remove the door locking button and then take a flat tool with a broad blade and slide it between the panel and the door and gently pull towards you until you hear the studs pop open. Repeat along the bottom and sides of the panel until the panel is loose. Lift upwards and remove. Inside you should find an additional plastic cover which is glued in place. Carefully remove for reattachment during assembly. If you need to remove the regulator, drop the window to a position where the bolts of the rails attaching to the window are visible and accessible. Prop the window with a pole or something strong enough and remove the bolts holding it to the regulator. Remove the bolts holding the motor and the you may need to reconnect the power cables to the switch and maneuver the levers into a position where the motor can be removed through the opening in the door panel. Re assembly is opposite to disassembly. Make sure the panel studs are aligned with the holes correctly or they may break when pressing them in. Regards John

My passengers door doesn't unlock, so annoying! I don't know what to do, it won't unlock manually (by unlocking all doors) or with a key.

The locking mechanism has come undone from the lock or is jammed. You will have to remove the door panel and figure out if it broke or just came loose.
The mechanism looks something like this except it will have a vacuum actuator. I will past the door panel removal instructions below. Let me know if I can be of any further help.64a6bcb.gif
door panel removal:
  1. Remove the window regulator handle.
  2. Remove the arm rest.
  3. Remove the door lock knob.
  4. Remove the inner door handle cover.
  5. Using a flat screwdriver, gently separate the door trim panel clips from the door.
  6. Lift the panel to remove it and disconnect the speaker or mirror wires as required.
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure the sheet of plastic behind the panel is properly sealed against the metal to keep drafts out of the interior.

Trying to remove a door panel on 2003 deville

Look the door over real well looking for bolts and screws in the arm rest by taking to cover off the arm rest. The use a tool made for prying around the door panel popping out the snaps. Keep working around the door then you will probably see other areas where the door has some tapping screws or bolts. When everything is loose pull out door panel from the bottom and work it down pull it from the window frames.

Driver side door panel removal

Generic instructions to remove door panels:

1. Remove the screw(s) in the trim behind the door release handle and remove the trim.
2. Look for the screws in the arm rest and remove. Remove the arm rest.
3. Look for other screws (possibly under caps) and remove them.
4. Insert a wide flat blade between the door panel and the door. Find the plastic tabs which hold the panel to the door and gently pry the panel away from the door. Make sure you work as close to these plastic tabs as possible to avoid ripping the panel.
5. Work your way around the door prying the tabs out of the door.
6. When everything is free, gently lift the door panel straight up and out of the door.
7. Disconnect the electrical wires, and you are done.
8. There is a vapor barrier between the door and panel which must be gently peeled out of the way in order for you to gain access to the window and door latch mechanisms.

I need to open the drivers side door of a 79 Camaro to replace the glass.

First remove the arm rest on the inside of the door. It is attached with 2 screws that go in diagonally from the bottom of the arm rest. Then remove the window crank lever. It has a clip behind it that holds it on the splines. There are several snap clips that go 3/4 the way around the door panel that can be easily popped loose, (there is a tool for this) you can use 2 small flat screwdrivers positioned on each side of every clip one clip at a time to pop those loose. You may also have to remove the trim around the door handle and unscrew the door lock. With all the hardware removed, Vertically lift panel to remove from the door where the window comes out of the door. Voilla

How do you take the door panel off for a 2003 Isuzu Rodeo? I cannot open the driver side door, something became loose.

FIRST: Prepare to support the inner door trim panel. If you have electric window lifts and a courtesy light in the door, you can disconnect the courtesy light, but the window lift wiring is continuous from the steel door "fair-lead" to the window switch(es). The panel will dangle from the wires if you don't have something to hold it up. A tool box works well. It also helps to use a vice-grip to hold the tool-box handle upright to form a catch point for the panel to rest against. You'll understand when you get there, and it's nothing to worry about. NEXT: 1. Remove screws: a - 4 at bottom of door behind removable plastic plugs b - 1 in plastic backing panel behind door handle c - 2 in door pull pocket in arm rest 2. Gently pull balance of panel away from door. It is held in place by "snap-in" fasters attached to the panel that fit through holes in the sheet metal door panel behind the trim panel. This may feel "wrong" or a bit scary, but most car door trim panels are held in place with similar methods. Be gentle but firm as you pull so that you don't bend/distort the trim panel. The wrap-around design of the trim panel prevents slipping a flat bar between the panel and the steel door until you've pulled it nearly hard enough to remove it, but you might assist with a Stanley "Wonder-Bar"--a flat "crow-bar" used by carpenters. 3. The top of the panel hooks over the window gap, so you just lift up and off the door-lock knob and out of that channel. Very easy. While you're in there, CHECK THE BOLTS HOLDING THE CENTER TRACK ON THE WINDOW LIFT. These bolts may have backed out to the point they fall out in your hands, or they may be loose. These bolts are the principle cause of window lift failure. The guide track is in the center of the door, and one of the bolts is behind a removable sheet metal "shelf" that holds up the arm rest and attaches the door pull in the arm rest. If the bolts are loose, BUY "PERMANENT" LOC-TITE and apply liberally to the threads and reinstall the bolts. I repeat, these kill the electric windows. If you're having problems with the electric windows and the motors still run, I've invented a repair that's superior to replacment. It costs $1.00 for hardware, but it requires some rudimentary skills. See email below if you want to pursue this. To replace the panel, position it over the lock button and nurse the lip down over the window gap opening. This is not difficult, but it can require a bit of wiggling and patience. Once the panel is seated on the top edge of the window gap, gently press on the perimeter of the panel and snap the plastic fasteners into their holes. There is one in the middle of the panel, too. Then replace the screws and trim bits and you're done. One other tip. It's helpful to have a small sheet of building plastic handy to repair/replace the protective plastic behind the trim panel. If you are removing the panel, I assume you're fixing something or installing speakers in the do

Door Panel removal

remove all visable screws from panel and arm rest. Arm rest should come off. Use a flat thin tool or piece of metal and slip it between the panel and the metal door frame. Slip it in about 2 inches,. Slide it back or forth til you hit a stop. That should be a plastic pop in.twist metal tool to pull panel away from the door. It should pop away from door frame. Don't overdo it if it doesn't come out. try another spot. once you get one loose, you can tell how to get the others out. Once panel is loose push it upwards to get top lip out of window bottom. If it has power windows, disconnect plug. If it has manual windows, you will have to remove the window crank There is a snap ring behind window crank that has to be removed.push in on panel by window crank and you can see the ring.
