Oct 25, 2009 - The Service Battery Charging System message keeps comming on in ... on the Information Center has started to pop up more frequently now.
A red light indicates the charger is charging the battery, an amber light means it has switched from fast rate charging to trickle to keep the battery topped off, and green would mean the battery is completely charged. But don't be fooled waiting for green, many times the charger will only be on green for a moment before changing to amber and keeping the battery topped off.
Flashing can be a sign of a problem on some chargers.
A rapid flashing red can on some chargers indicate a bad or shorted battery, or a bad battery contact in the charger itself. If in question, try a different battery on the charger or compare with another charger to determine if the blinking is normal.
Just from what you say I would try to use the Laptop without the battery. If the system works, I would suggest a new battery. It is possible that the charging circuit has failed but the only way to prove this is to fit a different battery. If the computer shuts off when unplugged then the battery is not charging. They only last about 2 years depending on how much it is used. Hope this helps.
I had the same issue -- charged it for days and still red light flashing. I was ready to break it open and see if I could replace battery. Then I looked on the opposite end of the charger and seen a little round hole thingy. I put the end of a pen in there and pushed it twice and -- the red light went away . Plugged the charge in and steady red then purple and now blue. Looks like that is a reset ..Try it -- it worked for mine.
I just called Verizon Wireless who said that the phone may need to be charged completely for a few hours. Try taking the battery out and putting it back on as well.
Sure, this just mean your are in charging mode, but your battery is at full charge. Should your battery need charging and in charging mode the lights would be green most likely.

If the light is flashing, that means it's charging, but it's possible
you're not getting enough charging current to really make a difference.
I would try charging the player with a wall charger (can you borrow a charger from a friend?)
