You may have log in on to face book with another device and didn't log off with the same device, and then you used a second device to access your face book but you cant log off with that second device because the first device is still connected.
You have to retrace your steps and revisit the people you had contact with and remember what devices you used to access your face book.
Are you using facebook on your computer or mobile phone? On your computer, when you are logged into facebook if you look to the bottom right, you will have a chat bar that should say "Chat: offline", you can click on this bar and it should put you online with chat enabled.
If you still own your email add that you used to register in facebook you can reset your password and have it send to your email. https://www.facebook.com/recover.php
Hi, On the top blue bar Face Book Search, Home Profile, Find Friends, Account, Left click account, at the bottom it says log out. I just close Face book. Good Luck !!!!!

Try clicking forgot password on the log in page. The password will be sent to your email. Log in to facebook and then go to Settings and change your password. Try choosing a difficult password.
