Have a WDL540 can you explain the symbols on the right hand side of the machine has mins and other symbols. Don't have an instruction book. A wash takes 2 hours at 40 degrees its too long.

Do you mean a Hotpoint Aquarius WDL 540 washer? The wash cycle timing is available in the manual on page 8 of the manual (see link below). A normal-sized cottons wash at 40 degrees C takes about 150 minutes (2 1/5 hours) if you have good water pressure and do not use too much detergent. The coloreds cycle is shorter (just under 90 minutes). The indicator lights on the very right hand side (in a downward slash pattern) give the cycle status information. The top light is wash, and the next one down is rinse. The rest are Spin, Dry and End of Cycle. See page 7 of the manual. The function buttons, below the wash temperature and drying time/humidity selection knobs, are from left to right: Super Wash, Extra Rinse, Mini Load, Slow Spin. These are given on page 9. The dryer dial gives you the choice of selecting a dry time from 40-180 minutes or by humidity. The humidity options are Iron (leaves clothes slightly damp), Hanger (ready to put away) and Cupboard (to dry heavy items like towels to a very dry stage). Note the dryer can't manage as large a load as the washer function does. You may need to split the load after doing the wash.

The manual for the WDL 540 is available on the product page: https://www.hotpoint.co.uk/appliances-1/washer-dryers-3/hotpoint-aquarius-wdl-540-p-.c-washer-dryer-white/F064656/ . The picture of the washer shows the function buttons when you zoom in on the control panel. The direct link to the manual is http://docs.hotpoint.eu/_doc/19512781900_GB.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Why does it increase time to 3H when there are 8 minutes of drying time left?

From what you're describing, there could be a problem with the moisture sensor circuit. On the front of the lint screen holder(you have to stick your head in the dryer and look back, you will see 2 metal strips. These are the sensor bars. When wet clothes brush against them, it lets the computer know that the clothes still have moisture in them and about how much. As the moisture decreases, the electrical signal changes and the computer counts down. The time is JUST AN APPROXIMATION. However, if the sensor bars become shorted, or if there is a problem with the wiring of the sensor circuit, or if the main control board is defective, these will produce the problems you're having. One important thing to note: Samsung dryers, when using the sensor-dry settings, like to have large loads in order to work properly. And, try to have like items with like items(jeans with jeans, shirts with shirts, towels with towels, etc) If you have *small, mixed loads*, use the timed-dry settings for best results.
Also, check inside the lint screen holder with a flashlight(with the lint screen removed) for a large build-up of lint. If there is a significant amount of lint, you could have a partial blockage in the dryer vent tube or wall causing restricted airflow--this will cause longer drying times because the hot air, containing moisture, can't exit the dryer properly. THE RULE OF THUMB ON ALL DRYER VENT TUBES IS: **KEEP AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE, NO SHARP BENDS OR KINKS, STRETCHED OUT(if using the cheaper foil or plastic accordion type)**** Remember, gentle bend coming out the dryer, gentle bend going into the wall. The airflow coming out of the vent(outside the house) had better be close to what's coming out of the rear of the dryer, otherwise there is some type of restriction in the air path that must be removed.

I have linoleum tile adhesive in my dryer, how can I remove it so I can dry my clothes someone put the towels that I was using by mistake in the dryer with the ...

You are going to need a hair dryer or heat gun; a throw away towel and some paper towels. Start out heating the adhesive until liquidy and then use the paper towel to absorb it. That should take care of most of it.
Then slightly dampen the throw away towel, put heat on the remaining adhesive until tacky then put the dampened towel over the adhesive and continue to heat the towel until the water steams.

That is way that works best for me.

Kenmore Elite Oasis Steam dryer runs but gets a F 40 code and stops. Just plugged it in to do my first load. Tried pulling out and checking lint in vent. It seemed to over heat the first time then sat a...

After just now calling the service center it seems that unplugging the machine for 30 seconds or so will reset the control panel. The F 40 code means the signal wasn't working in the machine and resetting it solved the problem. Kind of like when you have to unplug the computer sometimes.
