I swapped the plugs, which just resulted in a fuzzy sound from the other speaker. It is not the speakers, since I tried the headphones with the same result. It is not the plug, since I changed the plug. It is not the amp...since I checked this out also. It is the output from one of the analog outlets on the back of the amp. That is why I wonder if a optical connection would resolve the problem.

This is a player only that requires a receiver or pre-amp/amp combination to drive speakers. The output from this unit is what is called "line level" and can be connected to any CD/DVD/VCR or TAPE input on a receiver.

Pretty much the only thing you can try at home is cleaning the laser lens, if the cleaner works then remember to use it now and again.
If the CD lens cleaner does not work the take it to the nearest sony tech/dealer for repair. Multi CD systems are very complicated and need specialist attention.
Hope this helps
Thanks for using FixYa
